I have always been intrigued by double names. I know they are used more in some cultures than others. They’re not used much where I come from (northeast U.S.).
We all have heard of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] and even [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]. I am curious, however, on any more unusual double names you have encountered used by real people. I am just curious of what combos are actually being used in the world!
I’ll start by listing ones I can think of that I have met. Please list any that you know of. [name_m]Just[/name_m] always curious of what can really be used/accepted in the world. (I guess you can list more common ones you know, too, since double names themselves are so uncommon, will be interesting to see what is used.)
I have met in real life:
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]-Vi0let
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]-J@ne
[name_m]John[/name_m]-[name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] (I wouldn’t count this as unusual, but I am listing it since I have met so few double names in my life)
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] (also not that unusual)
[name_m]Jose[/name_m]-[name_u]Maria[/name_u] (Pretty sure this is full name. He is from Spain and I only learned that recently after 30 years of knowing him because he is always called [name_m]Jose[/name_m])
I know an [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] ([name_m]Aaron[/name_m]), [name_m]Jose[/name_m] [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] ([name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m]), and [name_f]Ana[/name_f] [name_f]Camila[/name_f] ([name_f]Camila[/name_f])
I mostly meet lots of [name_f]Mary[/name_f]/Maria double barreled names. I have met a few people with more unusual double barreled names, but for privacy I won’t post them.
My friend has a niece named @deline Sc@rlett who is still a baby and will probably go by @deline at school but her mom still uses her full name all the time.
The most “unusual” double names I’ve encountered are [name_m]Carl[/name_m]-[name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_f]Ana[/name_f]-[name_f]Natalia[/name_f] and [name_u]Charly[/name_u]-[name_m]Doll[/name_m] (all kids.) I’ve also met a LOT of [name_m]John[/name_m]-[name_m]Paul[/name_m]’s and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-___s.
I’ve known a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Graham[/name_m], a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], a LOT of [name_m]John[/name_m] Pauls and a couple [name_m]John[/name_m] Henrys.
John [name_m]Paul[/name_m] is actually quite common, especially in Catholic circles.
The most unusual double name I know is [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] (she is female, I believe [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] was her mother’s maiden name).
Not all unusual but I know:
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]-[name_f]Jayne[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Ann[/name_f]-[name_u]Marie[/name_u]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]- [name_f]May[/name_f]/ [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
St [name_u]Clair[/name_u]
[name_u]Gary[/name_u]-[name_m]John[/name_m]
My husband technically has [name_u]James[/name_u] as a middle name but his mum still exclusively calls him [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
