What vibe? Final boy names

Hi there!
I’m getting a tad repetitive over here trying to hone in on our final boy name for our Jan baby. Maybe this approach will give us more insight!

(1) Please give descriptors or impressions of what you think of the names below! What do these names make you think of? Some are more popular than others but are family names so we may just roll with it

Jack- family name

Thomas

Theodore

Max

Arthur- family name

(2) We are mainly between 2 below so feel free to share what you think of the combos as well

Jack Thomas- “God of gracious” “twin”

  • I love the way Jack sounds… sometimes worry it’s too plain. Like the idea of JT as a NN if too many in their class or something
  • Open to Jack Arthur but I keep hearing it as a very regal name? Which I’m not crazy about

Max Arthur- “the greatest” “bear” :joy:

  • love the look of this name…. Love an X in a name haha. When calling it out, I sometimes think -ax ending is too harsh…we haven’t been able to get down with Maxwell (I wish we could)…I love the meaning of this combo

(3) Consider our top girls names for vibe/ flow with the boy contenders…. We are team green.

Lucy Caroline
Nora Estelle

Thanks!!

To be honest, I think they both work equally well with your girl names!

As for [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] vs [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], I’ve always liked [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] more! Don’t get me wrong [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a perfectly nice name! But if I’m being honest, it does feel quite plain to me. I know so many baby Jacks that I just don’t get positive feelings from the name anymore? It’s a classic and it has a friendly feel, but it’s just really overdone so I can’t care about it.

[name_f][/name_f]

Meanwhile [name_m]Max[/name_m], I love! It’s also well-used and well-liked but not overwhelmingly so, I think the sound is unique and distinctive, and I like how it works well internationally too! And [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is a fun middle name too. I just think this combo as a whole has a lot more personality than [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], while still being really approachable and easy to wear, so I like it more! As for [name_m]Max[/name_m] sounding harsh – I have a friend with a cat named [name_m]Max[/name_m] and when it’s sounding harsh to her ears she affectionately calls him Maxxy / [name_m]Maxy[/name_m] instead, so maybe a cute at-home nickname like that could help you with your harsh sound problems!

I think all of your names have a similar vibe, timeless and familiar, your cute [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking easy-named boy. While we (I?) still tend to think of [name_m]Jack[/name_m] as the one common name, I think [name_m]Max[/name_m] was the previous recent and has given way to [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] as the new trend. How many of those would you like to hear about in your kid’s class, for a thought? For example, I’d love to meet a little [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] this decade.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- why then, this has been a put away classic combo in my lists! [name_f]My[/name_f] long version used to be [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. Still love love, though my list is quite more adventurous these days.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] also sounds great. It sounds more posh, but not posh[name_f][/name_f]. The only royalty I’ve ever attached to [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is king [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is approachable I don’t think it gets to the regal level.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- the #1[name_f][/name_f] bear, that’s a great meaning. There are plenty of options for full names for [name_m]Max[/name_m] as well, so I’m sure we could find you one!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is so sweet! It made me think a little country.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], now, is more posh. Match her to [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] ha

[name_f][/name_f]

Side thought, [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] would be the [name_f][/name_f] cutest teddy bear.

[name_f]My[/name_f] personal impressions and descriptors for the names:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] → a happy-go-lucky, every-man kind of name, versatile, classic, and timeless but still fresh in feel

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] → a subtle but solid sort of name, slightly bookish and serious [name_f][/name_f]- however, to note: a [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] who is exclusively [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] gives me that vibe. [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] ‘Tom’ or ‘Tommy’ feel more outgoing and active [name_f][/name_f]- kind of cosy but outdoorsy too.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] → elegant with an air of confidence and a touch of regal charm [name_f][/name_f]- I can see it as serious or suave. It feels classic yet contemporary. Like with [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], nickname usage does change the impression a bit.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Max[/name_m] → spirited but sleek, youthful but timeless, [name_m]Max[/name_m] has both cheeky charm and a friendly, gentle air. It’s one I can imagine on someone of any age. I’d say it gives me modern classic/ international energy

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] → it’s got a vintage air to it, [name_f]British[/name_f] vibes, and a serious and grounded feel, while also maintaining outdoorsy, adventurous energy [name_f][/name_f]- chivalrous but not overly so?

[name_f][/name_f]

Combos:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] → a solid, timeless choice [name_f][/name_f]- versatile and easy to wear. If gives a friendly feel and it would fit all kinds of people. JT is a cool nickname [name_f][/name_f]- gives it a slight edge.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is nice too [name_f][/name_f]- kind of a similar feel to above, less regal for me, more '19th century novel"

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] → so sparky and lively, yet with a gentleness about it too [name_f][/name_f]- I personally don’t find it harsh [name_f][/name_f]- it feels friendly imo!

[name_f][/name_f]

You girls and your boys:

[name_f][/name_f]

I think they all flow well!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_m]Max[/name_m], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_m]Max[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f], and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] all work to me! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_m]Max[/name_m] is probably my fave

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is classic and I also love the nn JT! That would be my pick.

I like Jack, Max & Thomas as firsts -

I think you’re right about the combos of Jack Thomas & Max Arthur bring front runners. I don’t love the sound of Jack Arthur as much - sounds like Ja’carther.

I also like Thomas Theodore, Jack Theodore & Max Theodore.

I like Arthur & Theodore but they’ve both been very trendy over the past decade (along with for eg Henry). I also just prefer the flow and sound of the others.

Edit: and to me, Jack and Max have the same pluckish, charming, and winsome energy. Jack is more outdoorsy & somewhat rugged, and Max is more Euro & entrepreneurial. But both go-getter names. I think they’d work well as brothers so I don’t think you can lose. Max is a little more on trend but both have a timeless, “classic” feel. Thomas would be a great third brother choice, with a more responsible feel but where “Tom” and “Tommy” have that similar boyish charm.

Good luck!

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Max[/name_m] flow so beautifully with your oldest daughters’ names! Both combos are amazing.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a timeless choice for a boy. It’s handsome, elegant and gentle.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] sounds powerful, charismatic and adventurous.
[name_f][/name_f]I love all the names on your list. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is a peaceful, friendly and sweet choice.
[name_f][/name_f]Nowadays, I’m leaning more towards [name_m]Max[/name_m] Arthur’s vibe. Max’s meaning is fantastic. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is warm and strong. In my opinion, they work very well together. I think “the greatest bear” is a pretty cool meaning.
[name_f][/name_f]However, [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a magnificent match for your current set and you can’t go wrong! I’m not crazy about [name_m]Jack[/name_m] Arthur’s flow, but [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] could be a nice twist.

[name_f][/name_f]

If your baby is a boy, he will have a magnificent name whatever you decide!

[name_f][/name_f]

Good luck with everything!
