[name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] - I think of the character from Dracula. Mostly because it’s mu fabourite book. She’s competent, gender non-comforming, affectionate, forward-thinking. She does things like learn stenography and typing on a typewriter in her spare time while engaged, because her fiancé is a lawyer who would need to write like that and wants someone to practise with. And she couldn’t have a job while married (it’s 1895) but she could help run a family business.
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] - never met one. I picture countryside landscapes in the spring. That time of year when it’s just barely spring and going outside is cold, windy and rainey. But then you spot a sign of spring (migrating birds, a flower) that makes you feel giddy and hopeful inside.
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] - i met one but she wasn’t like this. I picture a middle class lady in a somewhat urban environment. Her kids have all newly left home and she has decided to spend her free time helping disadvangaged youth in a quiet, quality over quantity sort of way. Like, inviting a handful of food-insecure teenagers from her kids’ old highschool for tea in the afternoons. She gives them sandwiches and helps them with homework. She becomes a safe person in their lives.
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] - Never met one. Girly girl. Could be older but I picture her young. Really into spinny dresses and wants to own a bakery when older. Has pictures of horses in her room but can’t actually ride them because her parents are afraid she’ll fall off.
[name_f]Genevive[/name_f] - Never met one. I picture a winter landscape with snow and cute little cottages cluttered throughout. It’s night and the light comes from the moon and from the lamps in the cottages. They look like lanterns from a distance. Smell is of wooly mittens hung up to dry by the fire.
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - I know many. They all seem to be incredibly strong-willed women who question gender norms. I see it simultaneusly as a very masculine name and one with strong maternal ties
