I was just wondering what people were almost called
I am called [name]Hannah[/name] but I could have been called [name]Georgina[/name]
If I were a boy then I would have been called [name]Thomas[/name] (my little brothers name) or [name]Harry[/name]
If I was a boy I would have been [name]Aaron[/name]…my mom wanted to name [name]Brooke[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]…My daughter would have been [name]Miles[/name] [name]Julian[/name] if she had been a boy…and I almost named her [name]Jessa[/name]
I was neve named anything else, but my brother was going to be [name]Andrew[/name]. My mom got me a cat a week before he was born and I named it [name]Andy[/name], so they made him [name]Daryl[/name] [name]Jr[/name]. And my youngest brother was supposed to be [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Paul[/name], but my dad changed his mind right after he was born and named him [name]Evan[/name] [name]Grey[/name] before my mom woke up
I was almost named Åse, after grandmother Åsbjørg, but then I was born on my grandmother Ragnhild’s birthday, so I’m Åshild instead, combining both their names. (Åshild is also a legit name, my parents didn’t take creative liberties ;))
My mom wanted to name me [name]Jennifer[/name]. And no offense to all of you Jennifers out there, but there are a lot of you, so I’m glad my dad’s more offbeat choice won the day!
If I’d been a boy I would be called [name]Christian[/name].
[name]Henry[/name]'s girl name was [name]Mary[/name], and I actually called him that for about 3 months until we found out she was a he! LOL
[name]Baby[/name] girl’s boy name was [name]Felix[/name]. [name]Baby[/name] girl does not have a girl name yet!
Let’s see, at first my mom wanted to name me Nadori or something or that sort. Then she thought of [name]Sage[/name] but my dad didn’t like that as a first name so it’s my middle. Then they played around with family names and decided that they liked [name]Alice[/name], I don’t know why they decided against it. Then somehow they came up with [name]Violet[/name], which I think would’ve been neat, but our family friend [name]Kelly[/name] insisted that in [name]Junior[/name] High/ Middle School I would be called ‘Violent’. Dunno how he got that idea. So then my parents went back to looking at family names and decided on [name]Anna[/name].
If I had been a boy I would have been [name]Noah[/name].
Oh and 1 more: My dad’s name is [name]Frank[/name] and he kept trying to convince my mom to call me [name]Frankie[/name] (as a girl’s name)
[name]Phoebe[/name] but my dad couldn’t spell it! Luckily they didn’t go with it regardless because then Friends came out and got really popular. My mum really wanted to call me [name]Emily[/name], but my dad insistsed they named me [name]Harriet[/name]. Now my mum says she’s glad they didn’t use [name]Emily[/name] as my first name
Interesting thread! I actually had two different names before my parents picked me up (I was adopted) my biological mother called me [name]April[/name] and a nurse I stayed with for 3 weeks after I was born named me [name]Jennifer[/name] (as you can see I was born late 70s lol) the minute my mom saw me she renamed me and Im really happy she did!
I don’t think my mother even considered I would be a girl. The doctor told her I was a boy up until I came out. Since she had no idea i was going to be a girl, she had only considered boy names. So, until I was born, I was going to be [name]Alexander[/name] [name]William[/name].
When she saw me though, she said, “Oh, my little angel.” So I’m [name]Angel[/name] [name]Starr[/name]. It’s a completely different style of name than the boys name.
If I was a boy my mom wanted [name]Seth[/name] and my dad wanted [name]Andrew[/name]. (He ended up getting his [name]Andrew[/name] when he and my stepmom had my brother 8 years later). Apparently my mom was set on naming me [name]Danacia[/name] (Da-nay-sha). This is funny to me because it seems so random and not at all the same style as my actual name ([name]Erin[/name]) but apparently she saw the name on a boat in the harbor near our house. It was called The [name]Danacia[/name] [name]Kay[/name] and for some reason she loved it.
Her story is that when I was born she decided I “didn’t look like a [name]Danacia[/name]” (lol) and she went to take a shower and think of other names. Apparently when she came back to the room, my dad had already filled out the form and put down [name]Erin[/name] as my name. My mom is a little nutty and I don’t know if that story all adds up (can the father choose the name without the mother’s consent?), but regardless, I’m glad I’m [name]Erin[/name] and not [name]Danacia[/name].
Back in the old days when I was born, every birth was a surprise. So my “boy” name was supposed to be Wadsworth [name]Brewster[/name], after my father and my mother’s maiden name. My mother wanted to name me [name]Deirdre[/name], but ended up naming [name]Leslie[/name] for [name]Leslie[/name] [name]Caron[/name].
My daughter’s “boy” name was to be [name]George[/name] [name]Thomas[/name]. I never picked out a girl’s name for my son, I knew he was a boy from the get-go, even though I didn’t technically know.
My mum wanted to name me [name]Amy[/name] but my dad won and i was named [name]Lauren[/name]. I think both are nice but think i am more a [name]Lauren[/name]. My younger sister is named [name]Amy[/name] which suits her. [name]Don[/name]'t think they picked out a name if i was a boys.
My husbands name is [name]Christopher[/name]. His parents thought he wa a girl and picked the name [name]Sarah[/name]. They didnt have a boys name when he was born, his sister suggested the name. Not sure if she suggested it as their mum is [name]Christine[/name].
I was almost named [name]Skylar[/name] [name]Bennett[/name], but at the last second my name was changed to [name]Bryan[/name] [name]Scott[/name]. If I was a girl, I most likely would have been [name]Brianna[/name]/[name]Bryana[/name]/[name]Bryanna[/name].
My first name was supposed to be [name]Amanda[/name], but they couldn’t think of a middle name they liked with it. So they asked my sister (who was 8 at the time) what to name me, and I became [name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Amanda[/name]. My parents hadn’t seriously thought about boy names (they “knew” I was a girl) but my mom said she liked the name [name]Christopher[/name] [name]Michael[/name]. Funny thing is I became friends with TONS of people name [name]Chris[/name]/[name]Kris[/name]. Found that interesting!
I know [name]Margaret[/name] was in the running for me as a girl. I think it would have suited me better than [name]Jessica[/name] on a lot of levels (I do not dislike [name]Jessica[/name] at all, I actively like several features of it, even, but it just has never fully fully “fit”).
On the other hand, I wouldn’t have cared for [name]Maggie[/name] (it is fine, just not for me), and I have grown really fond of [name]Jess[/name], it fits very well. So…I’m happy it worked out as it did.
Had I been a [name]Margaret[/name], I might have gone for [name]Margo[/name] as a nn, maybe [name]Greta[/name] or [name]Etta[/name] or something. Or maybe [name]Mae[/name]/[name]May[/name]. [name]Maisie[/name] is sweet but not me.
[name]Jesse[/name] was the top contendor for me as a boy, although I think [name]Lance[/name] was batted around as well. Anyway, then [name]Jessica[/name] came from [name]Jesse[/name].
I might have been [name]Natalie[/name] or [name]Rosalie[/name], instead of [name]Caroline[/name], neither of which are really ‘me’ at all. If I had been a boy, then I would have been [name]Paul[/name] after my Dad.
