i was about 8 and my best friend’s mom was pregnant. we were reading through one of her baby name books and i liked the combination because, according to that book, it meant “gracious, beautiful butterfly princess”.
I had two favorite books when I was little (i’m talking 4 yrs old) and I still have them. The first was called Noisy [name]Nora[/name]. I loved this name and I always wanted to use it for a little girl. Fast forward to today and it is too popular for my liking. So sad!
[name]Nathan[/name] was the first name I serously ever loved from the age of about 11 years old, the other one was [name]Elliott[/name]. For some reason I only liked having boy dolls and these were their names.
This is the first name I can remember liking. My aunt said her daughter had 4 in her class. I still like it but my current favourite is [name]Eleanor[/name].
There have been quite a few names through the years that I have thought I ‘loved’ but then started to hate after hearing them many times. For example, [name]Nora[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]. The one name combo that I have seriously loved ever since I was about 10-ish was [name]Eliska[/name] [name]Seraphine[/name] and Im so glad to have been able to use that for my daughter. I am still utterly in love with it now which is such a bonus, haha!
[name]Bree[/name]
[name]Lise[/name]. I don’t know how young I was but I’m guessing between two and three. My favourite book was about a little girl called [name]Lise[/name], and one of my favourite lullabies was about a little [name]Lise[/name] as well. So I named my dollie [name]Lise[/name] as well, and my favourite little Sylvanian Family bear.
[name]Samantha[/name]. I had the American Girl doll when I was younger and at eight I was postive that that was what I was going to name my future daughter. Twenty-two years later, I’m expecting a girl and that name is not even close to being on my list.
My first favorites were
boys: [name]Ryan[/name], [name]Luke[/name], [name]Peter[/name]
girls: [name]Amy[/name], [name]Michelle[/name]
I like more uncommon names now…I can’t imagine ever using these as first names.
[name]Rosa[/name]. Except I misspelled it as “Roisa”. So technincally it should be pronounced as [name]Ro[/name]-ee-sa haha. My friends and I came up with a book series called the Imaginary Friends’ Club when we were in third grade. My character was Roisa and she was spanish lol.
[name]Bridget[/name]. When I was about 4 years old, a teenage girl who was helping in the church nursery or [name]Sunday[/name] School was named [name]Bridget[/name], and I remember thinking I loved that name. (Later, when I was 7, I decided on the names [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Christopher[/name] for my future children. There were some fluctuations of my favorite names in my teens. By my early 20s, the names were [name]Christina[/name] and [name]David[/name]. By the time, I got married, my favorite girls’ name was [name]Rebecca[/name], and my favorite boys’ name was [name]Eric[/name], and secondly [name]Nicholas[/name].)
[name]Abigail[/name]. I don’t even know where I came across it–probably the story of [name]David[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name] in a church lesson–and I thought it was just perfect. I literally became so obsessed about it I got sick with it. Like when you listen to your favorite song way too many times. I still really like [name]Abigail[/name], but it’s a bit boring as a FN for me now. I still like hearing it, though (well, minus the nn [name]Abby[/name]! [name]Abby[/name] just seems quite bland to me).
[name]Ian[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]. I was about ten, and just fell in love with the name after hearing it at school one day. Ten years later, it’s still my #1 favorite name for a boy.
I “think” it was [name]Fiona[/name]. I was four and it was the name of the main character on my favorite television show. I named my first doll after it.
The first favorite I was actually “aware” was my favorite was [name]Charlotte[/name]. Since I was eight.
Boys: [name]Daniel[/name] was my first favorite at Age 7. Named my cat that name unfortunately so its out
[name]Jamie[/name] (girl). Got a doll at the age of four or five that came with the name [name]Jamie[/name]. I thought it sounded like wind chimes. Never played with the doll though, because she wasn’t a Cabbage Patch, but always loved her brown and orange calico dress, and her wind chimey name.
[name]Darinka[/name]. Pronouced Dar-ink-ah. It was my friends grandmothers name. I was in the 3rd grade and I absolutely loved it. I still like it a lot almost 2 decades later
