Mine was [name]Kassandra[/name], nn [name]Kassie[/name]. Funny how tastes change. That name is nowhere near my list now. BTW, I graduated HS in '93.
I finished highschool in 2003, my favourite name was [name]Isabella[/name]. Needless to say I do not plan on using it any longer.
I can only remember a few…
Girls:
[name]Kai[/name] was a favorite for a while and then [name]Kendall[/name]. (probably around 1998-1999)
(closer to 2000-2001)
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] [name]Amalia[/name] (though I thought [name]Amalia[/name] was pronounce [name]Ah[/name]-[name]MAY[/name]-lee-uh and now I prefer the [name]Gwendolen[/name] spelling…)
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Day[/name]
[name]Favorite[/name] boy names were [name]Nathan[/name] and [name]Gavin[/name].
[name]Pallas[/name].
[name]Athena[/name] was too obvious for me, but I just knew when I had a daughter I would name her [name]Pallas[/name] for the Greek goddess of wisdom.
I graduated in '00 and I remember liking [name]Cassidy[/name] and [name]Harper[/name].
But here’s a funny story. I told my (more conservative name-loving) best friend that I really like [name]Clementine[/name] for the next daughter. She looked at me incredulously ( ) for a moment, and then reminded me that in 2nd grade I wanted to name my baby [name]Valentine[/name]. I’m regressing!
Names from little girl on up:
[name]Jenny[/name]
[name]Alexis[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Prairie[/name]
[name]Augusta[/name]
I was certain my first daughter’s name would be: [name]Ramses[/name] [name]Arwen[/name] [name]Magdalena[/name] [name]Jade[/name]
None of these names are anywhere on my lists now.
I also thought [name]Afton[/name] was the coolest thing since sliced bread.
Graduated in 03; as of a couple years before that, favorites were [name]Roxanne[/name], [name]Leila[/name], [name]Celia[/name] and [name]Valerie[/name]. Things haven’t changed that much.
I am a teenager, and my favorite names are:
Girls
- [name]Cecilia[/name]/[name]Celia[/name]/[name]Cecily[/name]
- [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Lizzie[/name]
- [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lollie[/name]
- [name]Genevieve[/name]
- [name]Rose[/name] nn [name]Rosie[/name]
- [name]Beatrix[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name]
Boys
- [name]William[/name] nn [name]Will[/name]
- [name]Henry[/name]
- [name]Oliver[/name]
- [name]Simon[/name]
- [name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name]
- [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Theo[/name]
Gosh I barely remember being a teenager! Racking my brains I’ve remembered [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Tessa[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name] for girls, and [name]Drew[/name], [name]Ryan[/name] and [name]Jonathan[/name] for boys
I graduated h.s. in 2004… My faves that I can remember from then and before were:
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Zachery[/name]
[name]Connor[/name]
Raden
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Parker[/name]
[name]Breanna[/name]
Skylah
[name]Brooklyn[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Marissa[/name]
13-17
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Alyssa[/name]
[name]John[/name]
Strummer - for a girl!
[name]Syd[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Salem[/name] - on a boy
[name]Severin[/name] - on a girl
18 and 19
[name]MAJOR[/name] taste change. Nothing but classics.
Well, apparently I’m the grandma of the group, having graduated HS in 1986! But my absolute favorite name was [name]Delaney[/name]. I was just obsessed with this name for years! Since I have always hated my own name, I even seriously considered changing my name to [name]Delaney[/name] back in the day, but never got up the guts. I also loved the name Landice (like [name]Candice[/name] with an L).
I never had any favorite boy names. [name]Even[/name] though I’m a lifelong name nerd, I’ve never been as interested in boy names for some reason.
I graduated in 94. I really really wish I’d kept more of my name lists.
Some I remember:
GIRLS
[name]America[/name] [name]Leeann[/name] and [name]Arizona[/name] [name]Donnie[/name] (for twin girls! I could call them [name]Rikki[/name] and [name]Ronni[/name]!!!)
Mississippi Cleianne (call her [name]Missi[/name]! Cleianne rhymes with [name]Leeann[/name])
[name]Destiny[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Tegan[/name] [name]Christine[/name]
[name]Gypsy[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Cadence[/name] [name]Brianne[/name] (this was years before anyone heard of this name)
[name]Brandyn[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name], [name]Ariel[/name], and [name]Aurora[/name] for triplets
[name]Kirsten[/name], Six, Shawnya, [name]Electra[/name], [name]Sierra[/name], [name]Kendra[/name], [name]Savannah[/name]…
I had a family I made up one time… I can remember part of it.
[name]Leslie[/name] [name]Nicole[/name] called [name]Nikki[/name]; Randilini Rosatana called [name]Rose[/name] (her full name was a joke to me, after a doll I’d had, but I did like [name]Rose[/name]); [name]Samantha[/name] [name]Ann[/name]; [name]Melissa[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] called [name]Missi[/name]; [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Dawn[/name]; [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Dawn[/name] (called [name]Lizzi[/name] and yes I reused names in this “family”); [name]Anastasia[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] called [name]Staci[/name]; [name]Emerald[/name] [name]Velvet[/name]; [name]Ivy[/name] Mist (called [name]Misti[/name]); [name]Hyacinth[/name] [name]Violet[/name] (or maybe [name]Violet[/name] [name]Hyacinth[/name]?)
I know there were like 18 kids, and only one boy named [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Parker[/name] called [name]Joey[/name].
BOYS
I was mostly more conventional and normal here. I liked names like [name]Kevin[/name], [name]Jason[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Joey[/name], [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Stephen[/name]…
[name]Rueben[/name] [name]Cooper[/name] and [name]Cooper[/name] [name]Rueben[/name] for twins! Why on earth I’d want to flip flop like that is just weird.
[name]Flint[/name] (after the guy from Wagon Train)
[name]Indiana[/name] (see my state phase from above, lol)
I graduated HS in 1991.
I actually named my daughters both names I read in books ([name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Hadley[/name]). I read these both at 14.
I also was way into Russian [name]History[/name] and loved [name]Anastasia[/name].
But before that, my dollhouse family was named (in the mid 80s):
[name]Michael[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name]
Tastes have stayed pretty much the same!
I graduated in 2003. Thinking back to my favorite names I have come to realize I never once thought of a boys name and low and behold I had a son.
[name]Aurora[/name]- Starting at 13 I was dead set on this name and kept it on my list up until 2 years ago when my DH said never to it.
[name]Cassia[/name]- Found this name around 15, once again was taken off my list 2 years ago. I always preferred pronouncing it Ka-see-ah.
[name]Liliana[/name] [name]Amethyst[/name] [name]Rose[/name]- I still love this name combination but only [name]Liliana[/name] survived. DH prefers pronouncing it [name]Lili[/name]-ann-ah I prefer [name]Lili[/name]-ah-na.
[name]Angelique[/name] Esprit [name]Marie[/name]- Fell in love with this at 16. DH said no.
I graduated in 2003. I wasn’t as into names back then, because there was only one name- [name]Anastasia[/name]. I’m seeing a lot of love for that on these lists! Husband says it’s too princessy (only because of the animated kids film from our youth), and our last name is also “a” heavy. I might try to change his mind (he’s easier than some).
Boy: [name]Zeke[/name]
Girl: [name]Jade[/name]
Still love [name]Zeke[/name], have transitioned to liking [name]Jada[/name] more if I considered these options.
Well, I’m still a teenager now, but when I was younger I was completely convinced that I was going to have four children and name them:
[name]Heidi[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
Kachri (I really have no idea where this came from)
[name]Fred[/name]
Now my list is more along the lines of:
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Catriona[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Eilidh[/name]
[name]Bronwen[/name]
[name]James[/name]
[name]Cian[/name]
A definite improvement I think!
Graduated HS in '00 and can remember [name]Samantha[/name] & [name]Alexandria[/name] ([name]Sam[/name] and [name]Alex[/name])…but, those names peeked for girls and have gone back to the boys.
