I was talking to my mom the other day, and we were discussing names. She said that while she was pregnant she wanted to name me either [name]Robin[/name], [name]Nadine[/name] or [name]Chantelle[/name]. I cringe at all of these (they really don’t suit me), and thank my dad for his good sense. Thankfully dad won, and I ended up being [name]Melissa[/name].
What were some of the name contenders for you?
I could have been [name]Fawn[/name], [name]Mercedes[/name], [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Nicole[/name]. Kind of a range there.
I was going to be a [name]Michael[/name] if i was a boy, but i was always going to be a [name]Cristina[/name] if i was a girl which i absolutly adore.
My mom had said after i was born her next girl was going to be named [name]Gabriella[/name], i had 3 sisters born after me named [name]Vanessa[/name], [name]Jessica[/name] and [name]Melissa[/name]…she claimed none of them fit [name]Gabriella[/name] when they were born. She has now moved on to urging us to use [name]Gabriella[/name] for one of our children. (I did not lol)
I was going to be named [name]Ellery[/name]! But I was named [name]Payton[/name] instead

My dad like [name]Roxanne[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name]…I ended up with [name]Robin[/name], which is a bit plain for my tastes, but I guess I should be thankful.
My mum and dad let my older sister chose my name, but mum says if she’d had her way I’d have been [name]Libby[/name] or [name]Lindy[/name]. I’m forever grateful that my sister named me instead! [name]Both[/name] of those are horrible
My mother considered [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Lily[/name] [name]Rose[/name], or [name]Desi[/name] [name]Rae[/name] (separate first & middle…yikes). My dad insisted on naming me [name]Sara[/name] [name]Hope[/name]. Thankful for that.
My Dad’s side of the family is Norwegian so my name had to be easily spoken in both Norwegian and English. If I was a boy, I would’ve been [name]Tor[/name]. My mom liked [name]Annika[/name] for a girl. In the end, they agreed on [name]Erika[/name] for my name.
If I was a boy: [name]Brodie[/name] [name]Jai[/name]
When I turned out to be a girl, I was almost named [name]Crystal[/name] or [name]Rhiannon[/name].
I was eventually named [name]Nicolette[/name] [name]Jade[/name], which was then changed to [name]Nicola[/name] [name]Jade[/name] when I was 6 months old.
I have always been called [name]Nikki[/name], never [name]Nicola[/name].
My mom wanted to name me [name]Fern[/name], my dad wanted to name me [name]Nicole[/name]. [name]Fern[/name] would have suited me just fine, I am not a [name]Nicole[/name]. The middle name ([name]Hazel[/name]) was never up for debate, and somehow I turned out to be [name]Shawn[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]
My dad really wanted me to be [name]Erin[/name], which would have suited me, but my mom refused due to associations with an unpleasant former cheerleader. My mom wanted to name me [name]Emma[/name] which really wouldn’t have worked because of a bitter family feud involving an [name]Imogene[/name]. If I was a boy, I would have been [name]Josiah[/name]… A decent enough name but not something I would’ve appreciated.
My dad wanted to call me [name]Carmen[/name] (I don’t think it would have suited me at all!). If I had been a boy I would have been [name]Jacob[/name]. However, I was named [name]Miriam[/name] which I don’t like either but oh well.

My dad is Japanese and my mom is American so me and my siblings have Japanese sounding names.
Anyway my mom always loved Amika and Mili. So she wanted to use them on me but, they ended up naming me Liia. And I love my name and thank GOD my name isn’t Amika”
I was going to be [name]Lisa[/name], I’m so glad my mum ended up picking [name]Laura[/name].
She decided against [name]Lisa[/name] when my gran (dad’s mum) pronounced it [name]LEE[/name]-ZA.
I was going to be either [name]Maria[/name] or Vassiliki or [name]Cassandra[/name].In the end I was named Vassiliki which I hate. I was always wishing my parents had named me [name]Cassandra[/name].
If I was a boy I would of been [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Craig[/name].
Other girl contenders were [name]Monique[/name] and [name]Jacinta[/name] but my Grandmother hated them and told my mother to take another look in the baby name book which is when she found the name [name]Caitlin[/name].
Ugh… [name]Dagmar[/name], [name]Freja[/name]/[name]Freya[/name],Vibe & [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I’d have looved to be a [name]Dagmar[/name]! But they chose not to, because my great-grandma was still alive (yes, that is why it got a no). I’ve never felt like an [name]Elizabeth[/name] and I hate to me, but love it to other girls. My brother would have been either [name]Phillip[/name], [name]Thor[/name]/[name]Tor[/name] or [name]Odin[/name]. [name]Phillip[/name] won.
My father never had a word to say in our names.
The only other girls name they briefly talked about was [name]Bethany[/name], but they were pretty much set on [name]Jennifer[/name]. Boy name was [name]Christopher[/name]. I was born in 1979.
I was always going to be [name]Danielle[/name], Dad wanted it spelt [name]Dannielle[/name] - mum won! If I was a boy… So glad I’m not… I was going to be either [name]Darren[/name] or [name]Declan[/name]… Eurgh! My younger brother is called [name]Craig[/name], I don’t think he had any alternatives
