What were your parents going to name you if you were the opposite gender?

Hey everyone!

I thought it would be fun to hear what names your parents were considering if you were the opposite gender!

I’ll start!

My name: [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] (ah-[name_m]LISH[/name_m]-ah)
Opposite Gender: [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] or [name_u]Cody[/name_u]

[name_m]Brandon[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]

[name_u]Rice[/name_u] [name_u]McCarthy[/name_u] Madaris

I’m [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] but if I were a boy, I would have been named [name_m]Christian[/name_m], [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or [name_m]Jonah[/name_m].

I’m [name_u]Simone[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]; my name was going to be [name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. (I was nearly [name_u]Simone[/name_u] [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f].) [name_u]Campbell[/name_u] was also in the running, which inevitably would have given me the nickname Soupy.

My name is [name_f]Eryn[/name_f] and I would’ve been [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] if I was a boy. My older sister was going to be called that too so it kind of got passed down, but then they had a whole different name for my younger sister if she were to be a boy.

The Communists that my parents were, I would have probably been a [name_m]Karl[/name_m] ([name_m]Marx[/name_m]) or a [name_m]Leon[/name_m] (Trotsky). I was almost a [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] because of [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] Luxembourg too, but my mum decided it was best to honor my two grandmothers.

My name is [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], but if I’d been a boy I’d have been a [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. My younger siblings are [name_f]Kimberleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], but they would have been [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], and [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]. [name_f]Kimberleigh[/name_f] was also almost called [name_f]Amber[/name_f]-[name_u]Leigh[/name_u], but I had a classmate with that name.

My name is [name_f]Vasiliki[/name_f], and I would have been a [name_m]Christos[/name_m], if I was a boy. [name_m]Christos[/name_m] is now the name of my brother. Both names are after grandparents.

I’m [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], I would have been [name_u]Max[/name_u] or [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] if I were a boy. By the time my brothers were born ten years later, the only name my parents could agree on was [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]. They ended up [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] (each parent picked one name.)

I’m [name_f]Emily[/name_f], and I along with 2 sisters each would have been my mom’s maiden name, [name_m]Anderson[/name_m], had we been boys. Now it’s up to me to use it!

I’m [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], and I would have been named [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] if I were male. Interesting thread!

My name is [name_f]Iona[/name_f], and had I been a boy I would have been [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. Though my parents gave very little thought whatsoever to my name.

ooh this is fun!
My name is: [name_f]Amber[/name_f]
If I were a boy my parents were going to call me: [name_m]Leon[/name_m] (after my grandfather [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Leonard[/name_m], who always went by ‘[name_m]Len[/name_m]’)
Also my younger sister’s name is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] but if she were a boy she would have been [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. This is such an interesting thread!

Realistically, I would have been [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m], III, like my little brother is now, but my mom made my dad promise that she wouldn’t have to have a III before she’d agree to marry him (ha! I love her spunk, but she totally caved when she saw the look on my dad’s face when my brother was born). If we’re going by the list they had, I probably would have been one of these:

[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] “[name_u]Charlie[/name_u]” _____ (they never came up with a MN)
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]

My name is [name_u]Keely[/name_u] [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], and if I were born a boy, I would be called [name_u]Michael[/name_u] after my dad, which is becoming a tradition in my family. I would be called [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] to differentiate me from my dad, [name_m]Mike[/name_m].

I prefer [name_u]Michael[/name_u] to [name_u]Keely[/name_u], but I don’t like nicknames!

Another favorite name of my dad’s, at least, was [name_u]Keegan[/name_u], because it’s a “nice strong Irish name” (we are barely Irish, but he’s really into Irish history and culture).

I ended up with three younger sisters and no brothers, so my youngest sister is named [name_f]Michelina[/name_f]-her intended nickname was [name_u]Mickey[/name_u]/[name_m]Mick[/name_m], but it isn’t used often.

I might have been a [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] or a [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] – [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] actually is one of my favorite boy names – but my parents found out I was a girl early on so I was [name_f]Emma[/name_f] almost right away.

My name is [name_u]Courtney[/name_u] [name_u]Lee[/name_u], but had I been a boy the name my parents had chosen was [name_m]Derek[/name_m] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] ([name_u]Hunter[/name_u] being my dad’s middle name). My sister is [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Diane[/name_f] but if she had been a boy her name would probably have been [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. My youngest sister is [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], and she would have probably been named [name_m]Christian[/name_m] after her father.

No name, probably. My mom was convinced I am a girl since the very start, haha.

I’m [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

If I’d have been a boy, well I can’t say for definite, because my parents didn’t really settle on names until after my twin sister ([name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]) and I were born.

However they did of course talk about names during the pregnancy, and names bandied about for boys, including [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], and my mom thinks they’d have used those if we’d have been boys. If we’d been boy/girl twins, the boy name would probably have been one of those.

So if I’d been a boy, I may have been [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], but there were other names they liked too, so again it’s only speculation!
