What were your dolls/bears/barbies/other toys called when you were little? [name]Do[/name] they reflect your name-nerdiness now? Did your friends toys have quite boring names compared to yours? I remember having [name]Polly[/name] Pockets called [name]Rick[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] but will have to dig out my old notebooks to find the rest of their names!
I wasn’t very creative when it came to naming stuffed animals and barbies, but I know that I had a [name]Viola[/name], a [name]Chloe[/name], a [name]Fiona[/name], a [name]Sasha[/name] and a [name]Carla[/name]. I loved to draw people and give them names that I liked though. Some names that I used were [name]Camilla[/name], [name]Rosa[/name], [name]Lilly[/name], [name]Hyacinth[/name], [name]Tulip[/name], [name]Lotus[/name], [name]Flora[/name], [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Lavender[/name]. I really loved flower names. I also liked naming my barbies after [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] characters.
The only stuffed animal I remember naming was a white cat from build-a-bear who I named [name]Angel[/name]. I absolutely HATE that name now. I don’ remember any of my other doll names. They were probably based off of Disney [name]Channel[/name] characters though.
Dolls were a [name]Maria[/name], a [name]Danielle[/name], and a [name]Stephanie[/name] (probably because of Full House).
I went through a phase where my Barbies were sisters w/ state names (cringe): [name]Dakota[/name], [name]Virginia[/name], and [name]Georgia[/name].
I remember another doll family were siblings: [name]Susan[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Bernice[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Ernestine[/name], & [name]Alice[/name]. Kind of fussy, but I guess not half bad for a five year old. [name]Bernice[/name] had a pet elephant named [name]Zuzu[/name] and [name]Susan[/name] broke her leg skiing down the banister.
I don’t think any of my dolls had permanent names- they changed constantly with every game me and my sister played. But I remember inheriting some really old dolls from my Grandmama- I loved books about royalty so I named them [name]Marie[/name] [name]Antoinette[/name] and [name]Isabella[/name] (refering to [name]Isabella[/name] of Castille.) And when I got a [name]China[/name] doll from my Aunt [name]Jo[/name] for Chirstmas one year, I named it [name]Lydia[/name]. I think I was about ten or eleven and I had just read Pride and Prejudice for the first time. I wish I could remember more of them…
- [name]Athena[/name]
The only name I can remember is my doll,[name]Tildy[/name],short for [name]Matilda[/name] I would think. My favourite toy as a young child was a stuff toy cat, which I very deliberately named [name]Cat[/name] aged two lol!
I had a rabbit named [name]Catriona[/name] - she was my favourite. She had a little pink basket and floppy ears… I had a red-headed doll named [name]Rachel[/name] (she had crazy burly red-hair like me, kindred dolly, lol) and a blonde doll named [name]Rebecca[/name]. I had a puppy surprise and I remember that there were two boys and two girls - I remember one girl was [name]Rita[/name] and one boy was [name]Alexander[/name]. The other boy might have been [name]Ryan[/name]? Can’t remember the other girl’s name, though.
The [name]Barbie[/name] dolls names changed a lot, I think.
Ha! This reminds me of a baby doll that my parents bought for me when i was born. They wanted me to name her, so while they waited for me to learn how to talk (took awhile) they referred to her simply as [name]Baby[/name] [name]Doll[/name].
Eventually, I learned to talk and named her [name]Sarah[/name]. Then [name]Katie[/name]. Then [name]Marissa[/name]. Then [name]Rosemary[/name]. Then [name]Felicia[/name]. Then [name]Rachel[/name]. Throughout my childhood, this poor thing had a different name at least every week. My parents tried to keep up, but always reverted to calling her [name]Baby[/name] [name]Doll[/name].
I still have her up in my closet. And I still think of her as [name]Baby[/name] [name]Doll[/name].
Before I was obsessed with names, all my stuffed animals were named Fegerson or [name]Charles[/name] [name]Fredrick[/name] The Third!
The stuffed teddy bear and rabbit I’ve had since the day I was born are simply [name]Teddy[/name] and Rabbit. Original, right?
I gave my Barbies new names every time I played with them, and there’s no way I could remember all of those names. I do remember [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Joshua[/name], and [name]Cassie[/name] being favorites for the [name]Barbie[/name] children.
I got a few American Girl dolls when I was in elementary school. Some came with names ([name]Kirsten[/name] and [name]Samantha[/name]), others I named myself. My “lookalike” doll was [name]Hazel[/name] and my bitty baby twins were [name]Edward[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name].
I only remember having a set of [name]Barbie[/name]-type dolls named Curiosity, Pumpkin, and Doodle. Quite strange names for a ten-year-old to come up with.
I had name for all my toys, but the ones I can remember are here:
[name]Honey[/name], Hugs & Kisses (twin bears, pink and purple), [name]Stanley[/name], [name]Bluebell[/name]: bears.
[name]Leah[/name], [name]Hannah[/name] and Flexi-[name]Lexi[/name]: Barbies.
[name]Skye[/name]: unicorn.
Perky: penguin.
[name]Izzy[/name]: fabric doll.
[name]Jemima[/name], [name]Tina[/name], [name]Chloe[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Tom[/name]-a-she (after my brother, [name]Tom[/name] :))
[name]Cat[/name]: a cat.
[name]How[/name] can I actually remember all of them?!
~[name]Jasmine[/name]
Great thread btw!
My toy rabbits (sylvanian families) are where my love for names began!
I named the parents [name]Clara[/name] and [name]John[/name], and the children were [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name], I think.
I would always write down their names to make sure they matched lol
I had a pink bear named [name]Pinky[/name] [name]Jasmine[/name].
A stuffed cat named Fluffy [name]Katherine[/name].
A pig named [name]Isaac[/name], a kangaroo named Lachy (short for [name]Lachlan[/name]).
And my babyborn doll was always named [name]Annabelle[/name].
I think I had fairly good taste in names as a child! Lol
Let’s see…I renamed my Cabbage Patch [name]Doll[/name] “[name]Clytie[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name]” because [name]Colleen[/name] [name]Shirley[/name] was not fancy enough, oh no. I remember having dolls that I named [name]Olyvia[/name], [name]Ilaria[/name], and [name]Alisa[/name], and I had a ton of figurines…the only names I remember are [name]Brianna[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (after some neighbor friends) and [name]Bridget[/name]. I don’t think I’d use any of these names, save for maybe [name]Bridget[/name], [name]Rose[/name], or [name]Jessamine[/name].
I had Pooh ([name]Winnie[/name] the Pooh [name]Bear[/name]), a stuffed mouse named [name]Louis[/name], a black lab named [name]Ebony[/name], a giraffe named Stretch. I don’t remember many else. I know my brother has a monkey named [name]Russ[/name].
I can’t even remember. [name]How[/name] sad is that? I think most of my dolls went by their manufacture given names. My daughter, however, I’ll have to write down the names she gives her friends because there are some adorable choices (for an almost 3 year old, for sure). My favorites of hers: [name]Gabby[/name], [name]Emily[/name], [name]George[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name].
I was a totally disney nerd, I still am!
All my toys were animals! I had 1 grey cat teddy & I named him [name]Lucifer[/name], a giraffe name [name]Ronald[/name], loads of farm animals with name like fridge & door, a frog teddy called [name]Belle[/name]. Before that I had a baby doll & every day she had a different name. [name]One[/name] day [name]Rosemary[/name], the next [name]Eloise[/name], then [name]Jayne[/name], etc. I named all of my animal teddys after disney princesses.
I have a bear named Cupcake and an American Girl [name]Doll[/name] named [name]Kirsten[/name] (she came with the name, so don’t know if that counts, lol)
But that’s all I can remember. I normally didn’t really name my stuffed animals… but I’d call my panda bear, pandy and hippo was always hippo, so nothing original.
Mm. I had a stuffed cat named [name]Kitty[/name] Ruff because I insisted he barked like a dog, even though he was a cat. Besides that, I remember having a teddy bear named [name]Jerry[/name]…Then I had stuffed dogs (I LOVED stuffed animals) and they were all, you know, in love and junk. There was [name]Spike[/name]; he was a [name]German[/name] shepherd stuffed dog. He was in a relationship with [name]Ginger[/name], who was an orange cat, until they broke up and he got together with [name]Sally[/name], who was a black lab. (I don’t remember what ended up happening to [name]Ginger[/name], hah.) Then there was Kodak and Kaloo - I don’t know where I got those names from - and they had a puppy named [name]Kody[/name]. Um…I remember a lion named [name]Adam[/name], who was always trying to break up [name]Simba[/name] and [name]Nala[/name] (two lions, and I think it’s obvious where they got their names from.)
…I used to watch soap operas with my mom. Is that obvious?
I have this stuffed kitty named [name]Marcie[/name], because that was my favorite name when I was 3 or 4 when I got that toy. I have a pillow pet that is a ladybug names dot and a dog pillow pet named [name]Bella[/name], because it looks just like my friends dog that is named [name]Bella[/name]. I have two pugs named Mr. And Mrs. Muggins (they’re married), a goldfish named Goldilocks, brown dog named Fudge, pink pony with glittery hooves named Sparkle, and a reindeer named Vixen. I have a black bear named Charcoal. I have at least a half a dozen toys named M [name]Molly[/name] or [name]Molli[/name], because ever since I stopped loving [name]Marcie[/name] I loved [name]Molly[/name]. I’ve over used so much that I don’t think I would name any future child of mine [name]Molly[/name] or [name]Molli[/name]. I have a ton more toys that I really can’t name them all at the moment.
