@clair.de.lune had a good taste in names even as a kid I see
I got to name our dog when I was nine, I named him [name_u]Duke[/name_u].

When I was 8, we got a rabbit and named him [name_m]Pusha[/name_m] (kinda equivalent of Fluffy in our language) but it wasn’t really my decision. I tended to like names like [name_f]Leticia[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] etc those days through! Maybe I’d go with something as frilly or chose some character’s name 
I wanted to name a dog Stellar-Rose as child!

Got a dark grey cat when I was 9-10, named her [name_f]Misty[/name_f]. She was an Egyptian goddess of a cat. 100% a [name_f]Queen[/name_f].
She had babies the next year and they were Cuddly (she was always all over us, never wanted to go play outside, a couch cat) and Bacon (he had another name but we never really used it, he quickly became Bacon because for some reason I can’t really explain it suited him)
