What would you choose?

Purely hypothetical, but I am incredibly curious. They’re the same names, with different (but valid) spellings:

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u] vs. [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]

[name_m]Stuart[/name_m] vs. [name_m]Stewart[/name_m]

[name_m]Louis[/name_m] vs. [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]

Which of each set do you prefer? And why, if you know. Me:

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] (for NN [name_m]Lawry[/name_m])
[name_m]Stewart[/name_m] (unknown reasoning)
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] (veritably [name_m]French[/name_m])

Thanks : )

EDIT: Notice people saying Louis is pronounced (lou-ee), love that pronunciation too. I must have been thinking Louis Armstrong : )

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]

I just like the look of all of them better. Also, I pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] more like Loo-ee

[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m], [name_m]Stuart[/name_m] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m].

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] (I pronounce them differently, [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] as lore-ence and [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] as [name_m]Law[/name_m]-rence)
[name_m]Stewart[/name_m] ([name_m]Stuart[/name_m] reminds me of [name_m]Stuart[/name_m] [name_m]Little[/name_m])
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] (I pronounce [name_m]Louis[/name_m] as loo-ee)

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] (of [name_f]Arabia[/name_f])
[name_m]Stewart[/name_m] ([name_m]Jimmy[/name_m])
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] ([name_m]Louis[/name_m] is Loo-ee)

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] - prefer the look, more surname-y which makes it more ‘current’, gives it a fresh feel
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]. I think i prefer the look of the spelling - [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] - though I can’t disassociate it with the words ‘[name_m]Stew[/name_m]’ & ‘wart’.
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. Although [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] & [name_m]Louis[/name_m] are 2 totally different names.

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u] - I don´t like the [name_m]Law[/name_m]-part in [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] because it´s just the english sound imitation of "Lau"rence like [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] from [name_m]Sean[/name_m] (although I do prefer the writing of [name_u]Shawn[/name_u] somehow; interesting  )
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m] - [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] is too lastnamy to me.
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] - same problem with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] as with [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stewart[/name_m]
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] (but i like them both)

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] - Our choice if little bundle is a boy! [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is a distant family name I found while searching my family tree. From what I coulf work out my great great great great Grandfather’s nane was [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] Stark
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m] - Not sure, looks cleaner?
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] - Again, not sure why.

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u] - I often dislike Ws and it’s how my uncle spells his name so it seems more correct to me
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m] - same reason, I guess
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is loo-is, [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is loo-ee

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] (hate, hate, hate the LOO-is pronunciation, and love LOO-ee, which is the intuitive one here in [name_f]England[/name_f])

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] or [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] - I say them differently. [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is Loo-ee and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is Loo-is imo.

[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] - I think it just looks more masculine. The U makes me think of [name_f]Laura[/name_f] too much.
[name_m]Stuart[/name_m] - I think of this as the first name spelling and [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] as the last name one. Also the [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] spelling has [name_m]Stew[/name_m] in it and I don’t like [name_m]Stew[/name_m]!
[name_m]Lewis[/name_m] - I do like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] too but [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] are two different names to me. However I know a [name_m]Louis[/name_m] who pronounces it like [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].

I prefer [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]. I like [name_m]Law[/name_m] as a nn, and [name_m]Lance[/name_m] as well.

I prefer [name_m]Stuart[/name_m] simple because it’s doesn’t include ‘stew’

I prefer [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] because I don’t like the pronunciation loo-wee.

But in all honesty, I don’t like any of those names much at all. And one of the big reasons is the multiple valid spellings. I don’t know why it annoys me so much, but it does.
I’ve also never met anybody with those names who wasn’t ridiculous in some way, so that could also be part of it.

[name_u]Laurence[/name_u] vs. [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] - this is the more authentic spelling as the name comes from the Latin “[name_m]Laurentius[/name_m]”. Also, one of my favourite actors of all day was Sir [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] [name_m]Olivier[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] classy is his name?

[name_m]Stuart[/name_m] vs. [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] - this is the name of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_m]Stuart[/name_m], [name_f]Queen[/name_f] of Scots. [name_m]Stewart[/name_m] seems like a poor relative. The nn [name_m]Stu[/name_m] is cool. The nn [name_m]Stew[/name_m] is cheesy!

[name_m]Louis[/name_m] vs. [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] - I prefer [name_m]Louis[/name_m] because I pronounce it the [name_m]French[/name_m] way “loo-ee”.
