[name_m]Just[/name_m] thinking a head on what I would name a sibling to my daughter [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
Let me know what first comes to mind and/or pick from my signature
Thank you in advance

I know a few Olives, and they’re all elderly ladies, so I’d probably go with another vintage pick. I think [name_f]Flora[/name_f] might be really cute, sticking with the almost flower theme, or [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] would also be very sweet.
Something spunky-vintage, or possibly another botanical. Without looking at your signature…

From your signature, I think [name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_u]Reggie[/name_u] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] go nicely
From your signature, [name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is my favorite. I like that both [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Fay[/name_f] are short, sweet vintage names, and that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are longer, more elegant choices.
[name_f]Laural[/name_f]/[name_f]Laurel[/name_f] w/middle name [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], or [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]: [name_f]Laura[/name_f] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] are both wonderful vintage nature names, just like [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and I like that connection. Paired with a long, elegant middle, this name is striking.
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]: [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] is a boldly, distinctively vintage choice like [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], long and flowy like [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], and a nature name like many of your favorites. Paired with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], the formality of [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] is lent a great deal of sweetness.
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f]/[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] middle name [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]: These two very vintage yet incredibly stylish and unique names are just about perfect. They are strong and intriguing, and share the “l” sound with margaret.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] middle name [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]: [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] sound exactly like sisters! Both names are sweet, spunky, and vintage. For the nature connection and an “l,” there is the equally lovely [name_f]Delphine[/name_f].
[name_f]Ethel[/name_f] middle name [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]: This vintage name is gentle, sweet, and substantial, with that awesome “l” sound. It is very old-fashioned in the way of [name_f]Marnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], but also shares the sounds of [name_f]Eadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Alma[/name_f].
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f] middle name [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: This name is making a slight resurgence, having been in the top 1000 this year, and I think it suits your style just about perfectly. It is a nature name meaning “songbird,” and includes the sounds of [name_f]Fay[/name_f], [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], and [name_f]Eadie[/name_f] all in one.
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] middle name [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], or [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]: This name is so stylistically compatible with [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. It is gentle and oh-so-sweet, and has the “l” sound. Another great name with these parameters is [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
I would go for a spunky 20s pick, perhaps with a subtle nature link.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Yvette[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Beryl[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
Some of those haven’t quite started coming into fashion yet, so you will be all the more cutting edge.
Having read your signature and the other posts, I think [name_f]Fay[/name_f] would be lovely and also second [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f].
Thanks! I like the suggestion of [name_f]Flora[/name_f]! Nice mix of the old and botanical. I also like [name_u]June[/name_u] but we have a friend called [name_u]June[/name_u] (I’m terrible with association)
Thanks @katinka I like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f] and [name_f]Fern[/name_f]! Others on there I like but can’t use for various reasons.
Boys (I find so hard so thanks for listing some), [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] and [name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]. [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m] is warming to me! [name_m]Willem[/name_m] is a favourite which isn’t too different.
Yes, I love these two with [name_f]Olive[/name_f].
Thanks everyone else who suggested [name_f]Fay[/name_f] too. I couldn’t get husband on board with this girl but if there’s another I’ll try again
@danakatherine Thank you for spending this time to really consider your feedback! I love the suggestion of [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] - do you think [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] could also be used?
Swooning for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ethel[/name_f] is a great balance of my styles! unfortunately husband gave a strong no to [name_f]Ethel[/name_f].
I’m curious which of [name_f]Marnie[/name_f], [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_f]Alma[/name_f] and [name_f]Eadie[/name_f] would you choose to go with [name_f]Olive[/name_f]?
We named one of our chickens [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] Haha we keep giving our pets good names (another is [name_f]Martha[/name_f] which we considered stealing for baby)
After reading these responses I’m really feeling [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]! so sweet together. thanks those who brought it up
others I liked:
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Harry[/name_m]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
I just can’t get on board with [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], the sound doesn’t appeal to me.
[name_f]Alma[/name_f] would be fabulous with [name_f]Olive[/name_f].
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] are super cute! [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is lovely!
I have a [name_u]Holland[/name_u] and an [name_f]Olive[/name_f] (whose middle name is [name_f]Faye[/name_f]!). I, of course, like that combo, but having to yell out the names [name_u]Holland[/name_u] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] now, I would recommend a sibling that doesn’t have an [name_m]OL[/name_m] combo. Too confusing and I could see names like [name_f]Alma[/name_f] getting confused with [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. [name_f]Alma[/name_f] is super cute, though. I do love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]!
They have very cool names! You obviously like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] together too.
Thanks. I had worried about that with [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_u]Alfie[/name_u], might start sounding like I have a lisp.
Yes, I think [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] is a GREAT choice! I’ve always loved it and considered it classic. Each of the four names you listed would be a great fit for [name_f]Olive[/name_f], but I think the best-matched is [name_f]Alma[/name_f]. It is just as vintage and sweet, and like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is a classic with a twist. One more thing: My new neighbors have two chickens, one of whom is apparently named [name_f]Martha[/name_f]. What a connection!
I like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] for a girl.
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] or [name_u]Orion[/name_u] for a boy.
Not sure if you want the names to start with the same letter!
Or if you’re going for shortened names of vintage names (since you did [name_f]Olive[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]), you could do [name_f]Lola[/name_f] (its short for [name_f]Delores[/name_f]) or [name_u]Theo[/name_u] (short for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] obviously).
I like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] - both strong V sounds
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] or [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
I think [name_f]Eadie[/name_f] (although I prefer [name_f]Edie[/name_f]) goes perfectly with [name_f]Olive[/name_f]! I’m pregnant and both are names I’m considering for the baby, although as my partner isn’t quite sure about [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is the more likely contender. But anyway, I think they’re gorgeous together. Otherwise, I would say [name_f]Alma[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]/[name_f]Eveline[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are perfect with [name_f]Olive[/name_f].
