I have struggling to find a name I like that matches well with my son’s name, [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]. I feel like none of the names I like fit with his name. Opinions and suggestions needs
Current ideas:
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] “[name_f]Lindy[/name_f]”
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]”
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] “[name_f]Edie[/name_f]”
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f]
[name_f]Maude[/name_f]/[name_f]Maud[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Blossom[/name_f] - family name
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] “[name_u]Izzy[/name_u]”
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] - not sure about pronunciation
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
From your list I think [name_u]August[/name_u] and…
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] or just [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]… are all very nice.
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] sound cute! I also know a family with a son [name_u]August[/name_u] and daughter [name_u]Winter[/name_u].
I think siblings to [name_u]August[/name_u] can go in different directions, however, the names I prefer with [name_u]August[/name_u] tend to be at least a little quirky (as [name_u]August[/name_u] is to me).
From your list, I really like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] with [name_u]August[/name_u], it’s sophisticated yet it’s also fun and bubbly.
I wouldn’t have [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as siblings, imagine calling them, “[name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Rose[/name_f]” it’s too descriptive
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] - I love it!
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] - beautiful!
[name_f]Maude[/name_f]/[name_f]Maud[/name_f] - I wouldn’t use [name_f]Maud[/name_f] if he ever gets called Aug, they rhyme.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - I feel like [name_u]August[/name_u] is a streamlined name, and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is just o much.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - not sophisticated enough
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] - lovely
[name_f]Blossom[/name_f] - again, too descriptive with
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] - a little too common
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] - really great name!
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] - a little too out there
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] - I like both pronunciations
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - a bit matchy but still good
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] - not serious enough
Favourites:
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Blanche[/name_f]
Recommend:
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Amabel[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] “[name_f]Lindy[/name_f]” - love it
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]” - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] “[name_f]Edie[/name_f]” - cute
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] - love it
[name_f]Maude[/name_f]/[name_f]Maud[/name_f] - not my taste. Not sure I’d want the matching “Au” sound
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - love it
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - love it
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] - not my taste.
[name_f]Blossom[/name_f] - family name - not my taste and I’d avoid another ‘word’ name
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] - it works
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] “[name_u]Izzy[/name_u]” - like it, but the nickname is not my taste
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] - I think I prefer the previous spelling
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] - not sure about pronunciation - I prefer [name_f]Helene[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - I wouldn’t do matching “Au”
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] - not my taste
I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] from your list. I think both work well both in style and flow with [name_u]August[/name_u]. I would also consider:
I really love [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]! From your list I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] the most.
I’ve always considered [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] as a perfect match for [name_u]August[/name_u], and not because [name_u]August[/name_u] is the eight month, but it’d probably be the first thought for many people.
Maybe the name that was derived from Latin or just used in Ancient [name_m]Rome[/name_m], like [name_u]August[/name_u], would fit? For example:
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clodia[/name_f]/[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]/[name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]/[name_u]Valentine[/name_u] (strong, vigourous)
Another that comes to my mind is [name_f]Ada[/name_f], because of [name_f]Ada[/name_f] Lovelace. Or [name_f]Juno[/name_f], from [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology.
From previous recommendations I second [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].
I like quite a few of your name choices in particular I like:
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] and…
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_m]How[/name_m] about (apologies for any repeats)
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
Or for something a bit different (at least for me, I tend to be stuck in the vintage camp!)
