What would you name Bay's sister?

We’re kind of between 2 or 3 girl names but I’m always open to others. My 3yo daughter is [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] -we call her [name_u]Bay[/name_u]- so if you have suggestions to add to the list, I’d love to see any and all. Thanks!

ETA: not really a fan of male names on girls but it has meaning so I made an exception for [name_m]Bayard[/name_m]

What are the other names, if you don’t mind? Or what type of names do you prefer? It’s quite a challenge, but [name_u]Bay[/name_u] is adorable nickname. I’ll just give some random names and see… :).

Not super girly names:
[name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]-saw Roseline in your signature
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Noor[/name_f]
[name_f]Amabel[/name_f]

Feminizations of male names:
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]

[name_u]Bay[/name_u] reminds me of nature, so maybe nature name?
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

[name_m]Bayard[/name_m] sounds like a surname to me, so maybe other surname names? (These just sound like surnames, unsure if they are)
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]

[name_f]Do[/name_f] any of these styles stand out to you?

I really like your daughter’s name, but it does seem hard to match!

For some reason, [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] came to mind right away. Maybe with Row or [name_m]Rowe[/name_m] as a nickname.

[name_f]Iselin[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Tacita[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Coretta[/name_f] “[name_f]Cora[/name_f]”
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Anthea[/name_f]

Thank you both!

It’s weird because I do love some names that are super feminine but also nature/ word names and then also feminizations of masculine names. We’re between [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] (his favorite but he says it will bother him if I use a nickname), Roseline (my favorite), and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] (after my great-grandparents, though neither of us is sold because [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is way too popular).

I have others on the list but nothing that is the “perfect” name. [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f], [name_f]Aviva[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], etc. One issue is my husband hates all nicknames and I love formal names with nicknames.

I love a lot of the suggestions already, it’s just hard to find something he and I will agree on. I would say stylistically, I love feminizations the most with nature-related nicknames.

So, out of the names you are considering I like Roseline. I think [name_u]Bay[/name_u], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], and [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] would be cute together. It’s feminine, but not overly so.

Other rose names your husband might like:
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/a
[name_f]Rosalba[/name_f]
[name_u]Rosario[/name_u]- boy name, but I think works better for girls here.
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]- I already mentioned, but I love it

Is [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] both your favorite and the only reason you don’t like it is popularity? If that’s the case, I would ignore popularity. As someone who spent my entire second pregnancy over analyzing everything and now am in the process of renaming my daughter, I would advise not to let popularity stop you. [name_f]Love[/name_f] for the name and the meaning it has to you always trumps the popularity or unusualness of it. Children just want to be equally loved by there parents, so [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] don’t match, but if you love both names equally, I don’t think they’ll mind… Plus, [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_u]Bay[/name_u] is cute. Sorry for rant

Now, if you like the other two more, I’d say get rid of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. While, lily and [name_u]Bay[/name_u] are cute together, if I heard the sweet [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and strong [name_m]Bayard[/name_m], I’d assume brother and sister.
Some other lillian names:
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
Sayuri
[name_m]Yuri[/name_m]
[name_f]Lillia[/name_f]

The other names you mentioned I like, but I’m not sure they fit. I definitely think a strong feminization with a cute nature nickname would work. If your husband likes [name_u]Bay[/name_u], then there’s still hope for other nicknames :).

My favorites for you so far are [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], Roseline, [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], And [name_u]Rosario[/name_u].

I’ll think of feminizations and come back…

[name_m]Bayard[/name_m]/[name_u]Bay[/name_u] and ?

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f]

[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] or [name_f]Lark[/name_f]

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or [name_f]Heidi[/name_f]

[name_f]Nadia[/name_f] or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (nn perry could be adorable)

[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] or [name_u]Genesis[/name_u]

[name_f]Trinity[/name_f] or [name_f]Verity[/name_f]

[name_f]Beverley[/name_f] or [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]

[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] or [name_f]Julia[/name_f]

I agree the names don’t have to match so much so long as you love it! Congrats, and here are a few random nature-y suggestions

[name_u]Gale[/name_u]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]

Good luck

I’m back :).

I tried to find feminizations that have cute nicknames or a nature meaning…

[name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f]- west wind. Maybe Zippa/y?
[name_f]Silvia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]- from the forest
[name_f]Lucienne[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]- [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]- [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], [name_u]Isa[/name_u]
[name_f]Phillipa[/name_f]- [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]/a- lulu, [name_u]Lou[/name_u]
[name_m]Augustine[/name_m]- [name_f]Annie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f]- [name_u]Maxi[/name_u]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]- [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]
[name_f]Danica[/name_f]- [name_u]Nico[/name_u]

[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
Solace
[name_f]Reverie[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarity[/name_f]
Hesper/a
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]/a
[name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Eowyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Antheia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tullia[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]

Feminine names:
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]- [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]- poppy
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
Aubrey- traditionally a boys name, so I think it goes well
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
Audrey

Any of these stand out? Am I even close to what you guys are going for? haha

Hey what about marguerite, nn daisy?

Thank you all, I will run these by my husband. Neither of us loves [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] the most, I just really like it in combination with [name_u]James[/name_u] because I was very close to my great-grandparents growing up. The problem is I would not call her [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and even though I’ve settled on [name_u]Lou[/name_u] as my favorite nn for it, I would prefer for my daughter to have a name or at least nickname that nobody else she knows will have.

I do love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], but its popularity as a given name in recent years makes me nervous. Plus, my heart is set on [name_f]Maple[/name_f] (it has special meaning for me). Of course, he hates it

I forgot about [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], both have been on my list before. [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is so cute.

Kadybug, I really loved [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] for years but the [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] Middleton thing turns me off now. Such a gorgeous name. The nickname Zippy is precious, too!

Hmm…
[name_m]Bayard[/name_m] is a very daring choice, I’ve never heard of this name (to be honest) and would picture the name more for a boy than a girl. So as your daughter’s name is so daring and unusual I think you need to follow suit with the next girl’s name.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Lula[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Lula[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Lotus[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Lotus[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Nephele[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Nephele[/name_f]
[name_f]Rowena[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f]
[name_u]California[/name_u] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_u]California[/name_u]
[name_u]Romy[/name_u] - [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] & [name_u]Romy[/name_u]

I actually love [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] together even though I’m not a fan of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] by itself. [name_m]Bayard[/name_m] is very cute with the nn [name_u]Bay[/name_u].

Other ideas are:
[name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f]
Hespera
[name_u]Ariel[/name_u]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
Lissy
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] (love this!)
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]

[name_m]Just[/name_m] out of curiosity what’s [name_m]Bayard[/name_m]'s mn? X

[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] is lovely. I think [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] is the cutest nickname. You could always go with [name_f]Pippi[/name_f]. It reminds me of The wonderful [name_f]Pippi[/name_f] Longstocking. I don’t really mind the [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] Middleton connection. It’s still not commonly used in the US and she isn’t a bad person to be associated with. I think she’s a beautiful young woman. Does your husband like it?

Did you mean [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f] was gorgeous? If so, I agree :). It’s such a rare unexpected choice just like [name_u]Bay[/name_u]. Zippy is adorable.

What names are you thinking now?

[name_u]Bay[/name_u]'s middle is McConnell (family name). I didn’t mean for it to sound like [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] Middleton is a bad association or anything, just that it doesn’t seem special enough now since so many people have heard the name. I actually have a list of just -ine names because I have an affinity for them even when they don’t go with what I’d usually like.

I doubt I could convince my husband to like [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f] or anything that exotic (I’ve tried [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] and [name_f]Capucine[/name_f]) but there is something so lovely about those names that are pretty and unheard of in the US (at least where we live).
