If she’s a girl: [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name]. And if he’s a boy: [name]Edmund[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]George[/name]
Loved all the feedback! For a girl, I’d love to see [name]Victoria[/name] used. [name]Queen[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] sounds AMAZING. [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Diane[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] Would be lovely. For a boy, [name]George[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Henry[/name] would be fantastic!
[name]Love[/name] royal names!!!
Keep the opinions coming. I found the comment about using [name]Diana[/name] would be a lot to live up to, do you agree? [name]Do[/name] you think we’ll see [name]Diana[/name] in the middle name spot?
I also like the idea of a [name]Matilda[/name] or a [name]Jane[/name]. I think [name]Jane[/name] would make a crazy comeback and hopefully some overlooked classics will be reconsidered for parents all over.
Well I already gave my opinion of girls names…but if its a boy I think they might use “[name]Albert[/name]”. Maybe something like [name]Albert[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]Charles[/name].
[name]Queen[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] II would be some name to live up to, but it’s beautiful nevertheless.
I’m also fairly certain that a girl, like a boy, will receive four names. The reason why Her [name]Majesty[/name] and her sister, [name]Princess[/name] [name]Margaret[/name], only received three and two names each, was that they were secondary royals at the time of their birth. The [name]Duke[/name] of [name]York[/name] might have been the heir, but it was strongly expected that her uncle, the [name]Prince[/name] of [name]Wales[/name], would deliver an heir. They were the same kind of royals as [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Eugenie[/name] are today (funny enough, they also “only” received three names).
I would love an [name]Albert[/name] (though [name]Lord[/name] [name]Nicholas[/name] [name]Windsor[/name] has a little boy named [name]Albert[/name]). All three of those names are actually included in [name]Harry[/name]'s name ([name]Henry[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]Albert[/name] [name]David[/name], which by the way is a mighty fine name in my opinion).
I don’t really care as I don’t like the royal family, but aren’t there “rules” about not using the same names as the heirs in other European houses? [name]Victoria[/name] is crown princess in [name]Sweden[/name], [name]Lenore[/name] is the Spanish crown prince’s first born and ([name]Ingrid[/name]) [name]Alexandra[/name] is the Norwegian crown prince’s first born.
I read awhile back, before they were expecting, that [name]Kate[/name] desires a lesser-known/used historical queen’s name that would be stylish among new ordinary (ha, ha) babies.
I immediately thought of [name]Alice[/name] then. I’m sticking to it with a strong belief the mn will be [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], and [name]Diana[/name].
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] has the best flow but likely [name]Elizabeth[/name] will be the second mn. So I predict [name]Alice[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Diana[/name].
The use of [name]Charlotte[/name] or [name]Willa[/name] (very on trend there) or even [name]Wilhelmina[/name] as a mn wouldn’t be a total surprise.
I agree with you, I love [name]Emmeline[/name] or [name]Arabella[/name]. I think they should use something outside the family. It’s uncreative and boring to just name the child the same names that have been used for generations. I wouldn’t protest [name]Elizabeth[/name]- even though it’s overused in the [name]Royal[/name] Family, I still adore the name. I like the name [name]Lila[/name] also. Very feminine and unexpected. But I doubt they’d use that.
For a boy, I bet it would be [name]William[/name]. It would be nice if they could let the kid have his own identity, though.
I’d guess [name]Victoria[/name] or [name]Margaret[/name]. I can only see [name]Diana[/name] used as a middle name, possibly along with [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name].
On the boys side, [name]Phillip[/name], [name]George[/name], or [name]James[/name]. A little [name]Arthur[/name] would be adorable.
I’m hoping for [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], or [name]Margaret[/name] with [name]Diana[/name] as a middle name. I can’t imagine a baby girl without them using [name]Diana[/name] somewhere.
Also, I know this is a popular name here, but I really hope they don’t name their darling [name]Matilda[/name]. I’m not a fan at all.
I don’t think it’s gonna stop them from using a name they like.
A lot of the typical English royal names are “in use” already; [name]Elizabeth[/name] ([name]Princess[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] in Belgium), [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name] ([name]Princess[/name] [name]Catharina[/name]-[name]Amalia[/name] in the Netherlands), [name]Eleanor[/name] (Infanta [name]Leonor[/name] in Spain), [name]Alexandra[/name] ([name]Princess[/name] [name]Ingrid[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name] in Norway) and [name]Victoria[/name] (Crown [name]Princess[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] in [name]Sweden[/name]). Counting the spouses of current Crown Princes (who will be Queens once too), even more names would be counted out like [name]Mary[/name] (Crown [name]Princess[/name] [name]Mary[/name] in Denmark) and [name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Princess[/name] [name]Mathilde[/name], the Duchess of Brabant, in Belgium).
This little one wont be in the same generation as the other little heirs, [name]William[/name] is, and I bet that the girls and our [name]Christian[/name] will reign a while before [name]William[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name]'s baby will (at least if they continue to get as old as they do in the BRF).
[name]Alice[/name] or [name]Arthur[/name] would be lovely, but at the same time I want to use those names so i’m hoping they don’t!
I think [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Adelaide[/name] is a pretty choice and a nice diplomatic nod to Australia, [name]Alexandra[/name] would also be great. I’d quite like to see an [name]Edward[/name] who goes by [name]Ned[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name].
I’m not sure how set in stone royal naming protocol is, I think probably most of it is just unwritten rules of convention, it’s so boring to have to just keep recycling names, the original name bearers certainly didn’t - they chose the names purely because they liked them, which is how it should be I think.
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Diana[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Carol[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Louise[/name] [name]Diana[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
I would guess that they either go with a “traditional” royal name, with a few “non-traditional” middles (like [name]Diana[/name], [name]Carol[/name]…), a traditional royal name with a funky/spunky nickname (ala [name]William[/name] aka [name]Wills[/name]), or a modern first name with traditional middles (like [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]).
I think a [name]Princess[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name], nn. [name]Allie[/name], [name]Lexie[/name], or [name]Sandy[/name] would be adorable!
I also think that [name]Princess[/name] [name]Diana[/name] will be honored, as well as [name]Kate[/name]'s family (whether that be her mother’s name or another family name on her side).
Something classic that fits with family names. I don’t know much about them or family names enough to pick two (boy and girl).
This is an interesting proposition! Traditional or classic with a modern twist? I couldn’t decide, so I chose to pick two name combinations, just because I can!
Traditional choice - [name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Diana[/name] - (love the idea of the nn [name]Lexi[/name]/[name]Lexa[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Margaret[/name] are classically elegant, and [name]Diana[/name] had to be included because she is such an important part of [name]William[/name]'s life).
Classic with modern twist - [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Spencer[/name] [name]Jubilee[/name] (Can’t get much more princess-sounding than [name]Arabella[/name]! [name]Charlotte[/name] is traditional modern elegance, [name]Spencer[/name] is a twist on [name]Diana[/name] (her maiden name) and [name]Jubilee[/name] is a nod to the [name]Queen[/name], as it was her [name]Diamond[/name] [name]Jubilee[/name] celebration in 2013). Absolutely no chance of even being close with this one, but that’s the best part of being able to have free reign with suggestions!
Whatever [name]William[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] choose, it will be the most anticipated name choice of the year!
I would name her [name]Georgina[/name].
If I could choose a girl’s name for William and Catherine:
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Catherine[/name].
[name]Augusta[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
I’m rooting for a [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] for a girl, [name]Arthur[/name] for a boy.
I imagine [name]Diana[/name] or [name]Carol[/name] (or [name]Caroline[/name]) will be honoraries in the middle for a girl, [name]Elizabeth[/name] too, perhaps. [name]Phillip[/name] or [name]Charles[/name] for a boy. I expect to see a [name]George[/name] in there too.
So…
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Anne[/name]
Or
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Diana[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Anne[/name]
Or
[name]Arthur[/name] [name]George[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]Phillip[/name] (though probably not, since all those names are in [name]Prince[/name] [name]Charles[/name]'s name, just in a different order)
[name]Alexandra[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Windsor[/name] is my guess.
I am 100% certain if it’s a girl that [name]Elizabeth[/name] will be in there as a middle name. I think there is a good chance of the first name being [name]Victoria[/name] as it’s not currently popular in the UK, is a classic royal name and if the baby is a girl and will be [name]Queen[/name], then [name]Victoria[/name] harks back to a golden age of female monarchy. [name]Catherine[/name] may well be a middle. My best guess is [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Diana[/name] (they tend to have a lot of names!)
For a boy I would be fairly confident that [name]Charles[/name] will be in there, also possibly [name]William[/name]. [name]George[/name] is a really good guess for a first but [name]George[/name] [name]VI[/name] was really [name]Albert[/name] which would be quite on trend over here, so MAYBE there’ll be a [name]Prince[/name] [name]Albert[/name] (although that would nix [name]Victoria[/name] for the future!). [name]George[/name] [name]Phillip[/name] [name]Charles[/name] [name]William[/name]… But maybe [name]Albert[/name]
