What would you name this girl? (pics)

Okay, a little while ago I posted about changing my name to [name]Charlotte[/name], in order to keep the same nickname as my birth name. While I love that name to death, I don’t feel or look like a [name]Charlotte[/name]. I kind of feel like an Esmé, but the problem is, I can’t really judge for myself what I look like, so I need your opinions! Based on these pictures (they’re not exactly recent, but they’ll give you an idea :P), what would you name me?

{PICTURES DELETED}

I think you look like a [name]Cecilia[/name].

Honestly, I don’t really think a name comes based on what you look like. I really don’t mean to put a damper on your question; I just thought I’d add my feelings.

Almost all names are given to people by someone else; they grow into them and make them their own. When people say, “Oh, you look like a ___,” they’ve either just met you and are basing their decision entirely on your surface and their previous associations with the name, or they know you and are basing their judgement on what you’re really like as a person. We here can really only give you the former, and that’s not going to be so accurate in pegging which name will fit you (in my humble opinion).

If you truly feel your name doesn’t fit, that’s totally fine. But when considering what you feel works better for you and the people who’ll use the name, I think it should reflect the kind of person you feel like on the inside. If you feel you’re a warm, down-to-earth, straightforward person, go for a name like that. Vintage, spunky, creative and quirky? That’ll point you in a different direction. Funky, brassy, and bold? Something else. What do you love about these names? What do you value about yourself and what makes you you? What might you want to highlight, and what makes you feel comfortable? I can’t answer what [name]Charlotte[/name] brings out in you that [name]Esme[/name] doesn’t; I think only you can.

All that said, it might be a nice way for your family and friends to transition to the new name if you can keep the same nickname. [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Esme[/name] is very pretty and you could introduce yourself to new acquaintances by [name]Esme[/name] if you want.

I love this post, and totally agree…am also really curious as to what your given name is!

I totally get what ellenelle is getting at…I thought about that, don’t worry  I just wanted input from people who aren’t me or haven’t known me for years. My given name is [name]Katrina[/name] D:<

I didn’t see your first post, so I’m not sure what the selection process you used to get to [name]Charlotte[/name] was like. Knowing you’re a [name]Katrina[/name], I’m trying to guess what the common nickname would be, haha. Are you a [name]Katie[/name]? Or a [name]Kara[/name]?

If you like [name]Esme[/name] (shorter, quirkier, a little more European and fresh than classic, elegant [name]Charlotte[/name]), perhaps you might consider foreign [name]Catriona[/name], [name]Catrin[/name], or [name]Katerina[/name], musical [name]Cadence[/name], sweet [name]Carys[/name], down-to-earth [name]Kirsten[/name], ladylike-but-modern [name]Kyra[/name], or unisex [name]Carlisle[/name]…I still think [name]Esme[/name] would be great in the middle

All the best!

ellenelle: I’m a [name]Kat[/name], which drives me nuts because it looks misspelled to me, what with the K and all. I picked [name]Charlotte[/name] because I liked it and could bend the name to have the nn [name]Cat[/name], to make transition easier for friends & family.

After the hurricane, I kind of felt guilty for having the same name. [name]Even[/name] when I was younger I didn’t like my name and considered choosing an appellation close to it, but Hurricane [name]Katrina[/name] pretty much blew (no pun intended) contenders like [name]Catriona[/name], [name]Catrin[/name], and virtually every K-name out of the realm for me.

Personally, I think you look like neither a [name]Charlotte[/name] or a [name]Esme[/name]. I like [name]Katrina[/name] for you.

However, I think [name]Catarina[/name] looks good on you too. There’s a bit of something exotic in the eyes in those pictures (can’t explain it really) and i think [name]Catarina[/name] fits beautifully. And, a bonus, you still get [name]Cat[/name].

I agree 100% with @dantea! You don’t look like a [name]Charlotte[/name] and definitely not an [name]Esme[/name] (though if I had to choose one of the two I would definitely pick [name]Charlotte[/name]) I really think you look like a [name]Katrina[/name]. I think [name]Katrina[/name] is such a beautiful name!! The only other name that came to mind with the pictures was [name]Miranda[/name].

I think I want to stay away from C-names & K-names completely, bar @dearest’s suggestion of [name]Cecilia[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Katrina[/name] and all variants are definitely going out; I’ve been at war with that name for years. Thanks though.

I like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Esme[/name] a lot. [name]Esme[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] even, it’d fit you, and you could go by [name]Cat[/name]. [name]Esme[/name] would work with your last name idea.

Also, maybe it’s time to say goodbye to your nickname of [name]Kat[/name]/[name]Cat[/name]? You know, time to get a new one, and start fresh and anew!

In the second picture you look just like this girl at my daycare, [name]Taylor[/name]. What about [name]Talia[/name], [name]Tara[/name]? [name]Cecilia[/name] would fit too, but I’m not a fan of the meaning. And I’m big on meanings. :stuck_out_tongue:

Umm, this is tough, because I think C names really fit you.
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Charlize[/name]?
[name]Charlene[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Hailey[/name]
[name]Melanie[/name]
[name]Melody[/name]

I’m pretty sure I’ve already said this to you, but you should go with how you feel  I don’t think looks matter so much. Plus, I don’t think I look anything like how I’d picture a [name]Lucy[/name] to look (and especially not a [name]Lucia[/name]) but people always tell me how perfect my name is for me and how much it suits me. Once you get a name you feel totally comfortable with, it’ll suit you. I never really thought about whether or not I looked like a [name]Lucy[/name], just because I knew it was my name. If Esmé gives you the feeling of confidence that it’s your name, then don’t fight it.
Honestly, when I looked at the picture of you & your brother, “[name]Charlotte[/name]” was the first name to come to mind, but looking at your mom and then back at you, [name]Gemma[/name] popped out at me.

I think you look more like an [name]Esme[/name] than a [name]Charlotte[/name]. It’s a shame all K names are out, [name]Katharina[/name] (pr. [name]Caterina[/name]) would really suit you too. Good luck!

For some reason I’m feeling [name]Veronica[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name]. Not sure why.

Wow, thanks everyone!

You look like:

[name]Katja[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Keira[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Carlotta[/name]
[name]Charlotta[/name]

I understand why you want to change your name, but I would suggest looking at your numerology based on your name. It’s part of what creates your personality. You look like my cousin, [name]Alexandra[/name]. Everyone calls her [name]Alex[/name], and she’ll always be [name]Ally[/name] to me.

Hurm, I love [name]Gemma[/name] and [name]Alexandra[/name] nn [name]Ally[/name]! Sadly I can’t use [name]Alexandra[/name] because my cousin’s name is [name]Alexander[/name] :frowning: But [name]Gemma[/name]'s going down on my list for sure!

First name that came to mind when I saw the photos: [name]Rachael[/name].
