What would you name Vince's sister?

[name]Hi[/name] berries! I’m looking for some fresh names for our girls’ list. We aren’t expecting yet but I can’t help but think ahead! Our son is [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Harrison[/name] ([name]Vince[/name]/[name]Vinny[/name]). A future brother would likely be [name]Walter[/name] [name]Henry[/name]. Possible middle names for a girl include [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Faye[/name], and [name]Patrice[/name]. [name]Hermione[/name] is the one we like best, however. We are open to just about anything…we can’t seem to agree on girls’ names at all! Please help…what would YOU name [name]Vince[/name]'s sister?

Or how about…

[name]Merry[/name] [name]Christmas[/name] [name]Eve[/name], all! Thanks for the new suggestions. [name]How[/name] do you feel about…

[name]Marguerite[/name] nn [name]Daisy[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you think people (non-berries) are familiar with the fact that [name]Daisy[/name] is a nn for this? Or would they think we are crazy?

[name]Etta[/name] as a nn for [name]Juliet[/name]?

Thank you for all of your help!

I love the French [name]Marguerite[/name]. It’s elegant, ladylike and sophisticated with a certain antique charm. [name]Vincent[/name] and [name]Marguerite[/name] would be a lovely duo! I don’t know if non-Berries would be aware of the [name]Marguerite[/name] nn [name]Daisy[/name] connection but you sure could teach them if they didn’t. I prefer the more solid [name]Marguerite[/name] for [name]Vincent[/name]'s sister than the frilly [name]Juliet[/name].

I absolutely adore the name [name]Marguerite[/name] (I am a bit attached to this name because my grandmother has an aunt named [name]Maggie[/name], short for [name]Marguerite[/name], who is wonderfully still alive and one of the most interesting women I have ever met)!!! It is a form of [name]Margaret[/name], which brings me to the point that people who’ve read [name]Little[/name] Women would DEFINITELY get the nn of [name]Daisy[/name], because that’s what [name]Meg[/name] and [name]John[/name] [name]Brooks[/name]’ daughter is called as a nn for [name]Margaret[/name]. Another literary tie-in is a name [name]Bailey[/name] suggested that you liked: [name]Lucy[/name]. There are a ton of great Lucys out there (some people love her, for example ;)), but the one I think of most often is the heroine of the original [name]Narnia[/name] books. She’s smart, adventurous, and caring, and doesn’t take you-know-what from anyone (especially that pesky older brother of hers)! I think finding a strong name that meshes, but doesn’t compete, with your son’s name AND has a strong connection (be it family, popular culture, or otherwise) to you somehow is a great way to start off strong with your daughter’s life.

Some other strong ladies:
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name]/[name]Frances[/name] (nn [name]Frankie[/name])
[name]Charlotte[/name] (nn [name]Lottie[/name] or [name]Charlie[/name]) - author!
[name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] (nn possibilities are virtually endless) - so many namesakes!
[name]Matilda[/name] (nn [name]Mattie[/name] or [name]Tillie[/name]) - [name]Roald[/name] Dahl!
[name]Harriet[/name] (nn [name]Hattie[/name] or [name]Harry[/name]) - the spy! Or Tubman!
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] - [name]Barton[/name]?
[name]Amelia[/name] - [name]Earhart[/name], [name]Bedelia[/name], and countless others
[name]Flora[/name]/[name]Florence[/name] (nn [name]Flossie[/name], [name]Florrie[/name], etc.) - [name]Florence[/name] Nightingale/+ the Machine. [name]Flora[/name] always reminds me of the pink fairy in Sleeping Beauty, but feels a little fresher to me than [name]Florence[/name]. Maybe it’s the flowers?

Those are just off the top of my head. If you let me know that you liked any, I’ll check back and do some more digging for ya =)

Congratulations, and good luck!

~sophie~
