Me again! I was wondering what you Berries would pair with [name]Felix[/name]. If you could pick one name, what would it be? Hoping to get some fresh ideas
Our little boy is [name]Felix[/name], middle name is [name]Newton[/name]. We love Modern [name]Hero[/name] names in the middle spot!
ottilie- What great names! I love [name]Orion[/name] Faraday and [name]Emory[/name] [name]Fleming[/name]! I don’t know if I would be gutsy enough to use them though :-/
uselesskitty- I really like [name]Cedric[/name], too! (Yes, I read all the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] books) However, I feel it doesn’t roll of the tongue easy enough…
I like [name]Blade[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Arlo[/name], both names have two syllables and can’t be given an easy nickname, as well as being recognisable but also interesting. And it’s on your list. Also like Emmabobemma’s suggestion of [name]Bruno[/name] from your list of boys names, for the same reasons.
For some reason, Bramley [name]Nash[/name] and [name]Digby[/name] [name]Nash[/name] appeared in my head. I have no hero to associate with [name]Nash[/name] though, unless you happen to be a die hard [name]Crosby[/name], Stills and [name]Nash[/name] fan…
This is hard, because you guys have my taste right on the nose! I love [name]August[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Bruno[/name]… REALLY love [name]Milo[/name] [name]Darwin[/name]! The husband keeps saying no to [name]Bruno[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], & [name]Milo[/name]. He thinks [name]Bruno[/name] is a dog’s name, [name]Milo[/name] is too “soft/wussy,” and [name]Arlo[/name] he just doesn’t like. It gets quite frustrating. I also really like [name]Leo[/name] [name]Atticus[/name], that blade mentioned, but [name]Leo[/name] is too popular for us. We want to stay out of the top 200.
Right now the names that we both agree are maybes are:
[name]Atticus[/name]
[name]August[/name]
[name]Desmond[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name] (this is his, I’m quite unsure still)
Hmm, I know there are others, but those are the ones that we’ve been talking about recently. Middles names at the moment- [name]Waldo[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Darwin[/name], [name]Edison[/name], [name]Tennyson[/name], [name]Finch[/name], [name]Walden[/name]…
My husband is a space physicist/comic book nerd and I am more into literature/poetry and nature.
If not [name]Bruno[/name], [name]Milo[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Leo[/name]… what about [name]Hugo[/name]? Very respectable and handsome. [name]Both[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] have a direct but idiosyncratic French thing going for them. I think [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Finch[/name], or [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Edison[/name] are all nice possibilities.
[name]Orville[/name] and [name]Wilbur[/name] [name]Wright[/name] both have amazing names- just thought of them. Also, if your husband is a comic book nerd, how about Asterix as a middle? Shares the X with [name]Felix[/name]. Or [name]Austin[/name] nn Tintin. [name]Marvel[/name] could be kind of amazing as a middle name- close to [name]Marvin[/name], [name]Orville[/name], [name]Martin[/name]. I don’t know that much about comics, but I’ve always thought Batman had some great names- [name]Gordon[/name], Gotham, [name]Robin[/name], maybe [name]Bruce[/name]… You could try selling your husband on [name]Bruno[/name] by telling him he could nickname the kid [name]Bruce[/name], as in [name]Bruce[/name] [name]Wayne[/name].
my little boy is due in 8 weeks. I have been set on the name [name]Sterling[/name] for a few months and the middle name will be [name]Robert[/name](family name), but I came across the name [name]Spencer[/name] and fell in lover, so what do you think?
[name]Spencer[/name] [name]Robert[/name] Sims
[name]Sterling[/name] [name]Robert[/name] Sims
I am aware of the doube R’s with [name]Spencer[/name]…
any other names similar you can think of that would steal my heart?
emmabobemma~ I have thought about [name]Hugo[/name] a lot…but I worry about the “huge-o” thing and teasing. Is [name]Hugo[/name] the fat kid? [name]Love[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Finch[/name], and [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Edison[/name] though! I also love the idea of [name]Marvel[/name] in the middle! Can’t wait to tell the husband that one And believe me, I have tried using the [name]Bruce[/name]/[name]Bruce[/name] [name]Wayne[/name] thing to get him to go for [name]Bruno[/name]
lauren-kay~ I really like [name]August[/name] [name]Tennyson[/name]! Thanks!
Hm… Is [name]Hugo[/name] the fat kid? Well, I dunno, but his name probably won’t make him fat. If you anticipate him being a large person, does it make any more sense to give him a small name… [name]Pip[/name] or something? I don’t find [name]Hugo[/name] to be particularly fat-sounding. I don’t hear “huge-o.” The U and the O are both deeper-sounding vowels, so maybe that’s where the perception of weightedness comes from. I personally like that. Better to have a name that’s slightly imposing, than a name that’s whispy and forgettable. Honestly, I think [name]Bruno[/name] sounds heavier than [name]Hugo[/name], but I really like both names. I think that giving him a middle name that speaks to your husband’s love of science, comics, etc. gives you some leverage with the first name.
So…I got all the way to the end of compiling this huge long list of quirky, vintage boy names to go with [name]Felix[/name]…and THEN I realized the part where you said to pick just one. @_@
My preferred pairing would be [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Milo[/name], because I just think they’re exquisite together, but you mentioned your husband is not a fan. So that is the excuse I’m pulling in order to post my huge long list [name]Don[/name]'t hate me for bombarding you with ideas!
[name]Milo[/name] / [name]Miles[/name]
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Otis[/name] / [name]Otto[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Chester[/name]
[name]Reginald[/name] nn [name]Reggie[/name]
[name]Tobin[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Theo[/name]
[name]Watson[/name] (a la [name]Sherlock[/name] [name]Holmes[/name], for a literary AND comic reference)
[name]Magnus[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Harvey[/name] (as in [name]Harvey[/name] Dent for your comic-book-fan husband!)
[name]Linus[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Alfred[/name] (there are definitely some Alfreds in comic-land!)
[name]Titus[/name]
[name]August[/name] nn Auggie or [name]Gus[/name]!
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Barnaby[/name]
[name]Robin[/name] (another one for a comic-lover!)
[name]Abel[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Boone[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Dresden[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name] / [name]Quincy[/name]
I asked my partner as he is also a science nerd, he suggests:
[name]Newton[/name], Tesla, [name]Antoine[/name], [name]Laurent[/name], [name]Johannes[/name] ([name]LOVE[/name] THIS NAME but sounds better x1000 in [name]German[/name], also goes well with [name]Felix[/name]), Faraday… I’m assuming these are all [name]Science[/name]-y names. I think [name]Newton[/name] is pretty fresh. [name]Orion[/name]? Like astronomy? Pretty cool. He also suggests [name]Lucretius[/name] and Archimedes. Getting a bit worried, I thought I was the one who liked out there names and he was the rational one?
emmabobemma~ You are right about [name]Hugo[/name]. I think I just can’t get [name]Hugo[/name] from the tv show “Lost” out of my head
sleepysessha~ So, you totally have our name taste figured out! Many of the names you listed are already on our list- I love [name]Milo[/name] & [name]Hugo[/name], but he says, “No.” His #1 name is [name]Dexter[/name], but I don’t care for it. [name]August[/name], [name]Griffin[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], & [name]Quincy[/name] have been on our list. And sadly [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], & [name]Tobin[/name] are names we love but have been used by my family or close friends! And our dog is named [name]Alfred[/name]
camb- I like [name]Miles[/name], I will mention it to the DH.
alistephe~ Tell your partner thanks! It’s funny because [name]Newton[/name] is actually our son’s middle name! That was choice #1 My husband also really likes Tesla. We go back and forth on [name]Orion[/name], which has personal meaning behind it for us as well.
You guys are great! So as of this morning our top 2 picks are [name]Desmond[/name] [name]Marvel[/name] (thanks emmabobemma!!) and [name]Atticus[/name], ocassionally called “[name]Tuck[/name]”…still need a middle for that one. And if it’s a girl we are still thinking [name]Veronica[/name] ( or maybe [name]Azalea[/name] or [name]Virginia[/name])
