The husband keeps saying no to [name]Bruno[/name], [name]Arlo[/name], & [name]Milo[/name]. He thinks [name]Bruno[/name] is a dog’s name, [name]Milo[/name] is too “soft/wussy,” and [name]Arlo[/name] he just doesn’t like. It gets quite frustrating. Hm… Is [name]Hugo[/name] the fat kid? Well, I dunno, but his name probably won’t make him fat. If you anticipate him being a large person, does it make any more sense to give him a small name… [name]Pip[/name] or something? I don’t find [name]Hugo[/name] to be particularly fat-sounding. I don’t hear “huge-o.” The U and the O are both deeper-sounding vowels, so maybe that’s where the perception of weightedness comes from. I personally like that. Better to have a name that’s slightly imposing, than a name that’s whispy and forgettable. Honestly, I think [name]Bruno[/name] sounds heavier than [name]Hugo[/name], but I really like both names. I think that giving him a middle name that speaks to your husband’s love of science, comics, etc. gives you some leverage with the first name.
