Hey so a name me and my husband like for our son to be is [name_f]Gin[/name_f]. Our last name is [name_m]Wood[/name_m].
[name_f]Gin[/name_f] [name_m]Wood[/name_m]? What’s your first impression?
Thanks for the feed back.

Lots of drawbacks:
Sorry. If you are legit, feel free to ask for help based on other names you like. I would [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] to have your surname and be able to pair it with fun, elaborate first names.
Totally agree.
Wow. Ok thanks, I guess.
Not [name_f]Asian[/name_f]
Not a troller
Your not people your one person.
Would love to hear some others thoughts.
Other names I like are
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_m]Lennox[/name_m]
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]
[name_u]Sky[/name_u]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
Zealand
While I like these names. None are jumping out at me.
My daughters name is [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and my son is [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
You could go w/[name_u]James[/name_u] ([name_u]Jem[/name_u]/[name_m]Jim[/name_m]) to get a similar sound. [name_f]Gin[/name_f] would just make me wonder if his middle name was ‘Tonic’. I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u]! Also consider Ashford and [name_m]Olivier[/name_m].
I think [name_f]Gin[/name_f] is too associated with alcohol. From your other names, I like [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] best.
I like the suggestion of [name_u]Jem[/name_u].
[name_u]Jem[/name_u]/[name_f]Gem[/name_f] could work on its own, or be nn for [name_m]Jeramy[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u].
but yes [name_f]Gin[/name_f] makes me think of gin and tonic.
Sorry, but this doesn’t work for me at all. [name_f]Gin[/name_f] is an alcoholic beverage. Please don’t name your child after an alcoholic beverage.
From your list, I love [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]. They would all be great!
Naming your child [name_f]Gin[/name_f] is no different than naming him Vodka, [name_f]Tequila[/name_f], or Whiskey, but at least Whiskey would sound more masculine.
You have several other, excellent names on your list (which makes me wonder where [name_f]Gin[/name_f] came from). You can’t go wrong with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] or [name_u]Jude[/name_u].
I forgot you mentioned your last name is [name_m]Wood[/name_m]. I’d stay away from [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] given [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] [name_m]Wood[/name_m] sounds nice to me.
I like [name_m]Lennox[/name_m] too, but I think I like [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] fits better with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. If you do use [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], don’t nn him [name_m]Linc[/name_m]/[name_m]Link[/name_m] – it just sounds awkward with your ln.
Were you going for matching beginning sounds for your boy names with the [name_f]Gin[/name_f] idea? I agree with others that a longer fn would work better.
Alcohol association aside, I think [name_f]Gin[/name_f] sounds very feminine – short for “[name_f]Ginny[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Ginnifer[/name_f]”. I really like [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] out of your other options.
Sorry, immediately think of the alcoholic beverage. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Gino[/name_m]?
[name_f]Gin[/name_f] is not good. It’s a type of alcohol, is that really the association you want to give your child for his whole life?
If you are going to end up using it, even as a middle, I agree with the other poster, I think [name_f]Jin[/name_f] is a better spelling.
From your list, I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] the best. [name_m]Both[/name_m] solid names.
I have to agree with the other posters. [name_f]Gin[/name_f] is not a good name for a person. It does seem more like a feminine nickname for [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] or [name_f]Ginnifer[/name_f].
Your last name [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is tough to work with. Most word names, especially nature ones, will just sound silly.
If you both like [name_f]Gin[/name_f], use it on a pet, not your child.
I agree with other posters however, I think if you and your husband [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it, use it for sure. My thing with it is it doesn’t seem to match your other childrens names.
Some names I think go well with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
sorry for any repeats!
[name_m]Kale[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_u]Theo[/name_u]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]/[name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_u]Gus[/name_u]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]/s
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_m]Baron[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_m]Harris[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
Good luck!
Thanks everybody for you input. I didn’t get such negative feed back from friends and family. But sometimes they just try to be nice. So I am glad for the kind but honest opinions.
The name always kinda stuck with me after “Lost”. The [name_f]Asian[/name_f] character.
But I think I will head back to the drawing board.
Ps [name_m]Wood[/name_m] is a hard last name to match with. I really like earthy names.
Honestly, I don’t think it’s so bad, maybe just change the spelling? I know a [name_m]Jenson[/name_m], nn [name_f]Jen[/name_f], so maybe I’m just used to hearing it as a male name as well as female. And if you choose to name your child [name_f]Gin[/name_f], regardless of the spelling, everyone that knows your son will come to think of that name as male as well. Go with your gut; it is not a name that is so far out there that it’s going to cause him problems later in life.
Wasn’t his name spelled [name_f]Jin[/name_f], though? At least that doesn’t look like the alcoholic beverage. I loved LOST as much as the average fan, but I’m not sure how usable [name_f]Jin[/name_f] (especially [name_f]Gin[/name_f]!) is. I think something like [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] nn [name_f]Jin[/name_f] could work, though. What about another LOST name? You already have [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], but [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] (the actor’s name, I know, but I still like it with [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]), [name_m]Linus[/name_m]/[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], etc. would all be lovely.
What about using it as a nickname?
[name_m]Elgin[/name_m]?
[name_m]Reginald[/name_m]?
