What's the general consensus on Luna?

[name]How[/name] do we all feel about it as a first name? I like it the more I say it but I don’t know if it has too much teasing potential. I kinda like it as a middle name for [name]Emilia[/name] which would be our daughter’s name if we had a girl first. I wanted to use [name]Mary[/name] as my first daughters middle name becuase it honors a few people, but I like [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name] as well.
Is it too cutesy? What do you guys think of [name]Luna[/name]?

[name]Asa[/name] name, it always reminds me of [name]Luna[/name] Lovegood from the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] series.
I also think it’s an unusual, rather pretty name, and goes with [name]Emilia[/name] well- the L sound makes them fit together nicely.

I’ve always loved it. It is tied to the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] series, but I actually think that makes it more usable. I don’t see much teasing potential, except for Looney. But seriously you just can’t worry too much about that. [name]Every[/name] name has teasing potential.

[name]Luna[/name] is our top name choice for a girl, so of course I love it! It’s also rising on the charts, I think it’s now at 230, but you might want to double check that.

My cousin’s friend even has a baby [name]Luna[/name], which saddened me a bit, since I hadn’t heard of one till then, so the name seems to becoming more well known.

Also I love [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] so it won’t bother me if they mention [name]Luna[/name] Lovegood, but that might be something you want to think about. It’s not like it’s a bad connection though.

I think of it as a dog’s name.

[name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name] is lovely!

I love [name]Luna[/name], but nearly every dog I meet these days (in Toronto) is named [name]Luna[/name]. I think that speaks to it’s trendiness, but it can also lead to people dismissing it as a pet name. Beautiful name, awesome HP namesake, but the pet thing would give me pause.

I really like [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name]!

I love [name]Luna[/name]! And [name]Emilia[/name], for that matter. [name]Luna[/name] [name]Emilia[/name] or [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name] would both work, [name]IMO[/name].

I absolutely adore [name]Luna[/name]. The [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] connection is a giant plus for me, and they only called her “Looney Lovegood” because of her personality. [name]Luna[/name] is easily adaptable to every personality type. I prefer the [name]Amelia[/name] spelling, but I think [name]Emilia[/name] looks nicer when it’s written down with [name]Luna[/name]. Great combo.

I love [name]Luna[/name]

I like [name]Luna[/name] a lot! It has the fabulous option for [name]Lulu[/name]/[name]Lou[/name] as a nn, without the nn [name]Lucy[/name], which I semi-dread. Ironically, I still love the flowery longer [name]Lucy[/name] names, though–[name]Lucilla[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Louisa[/name]–more than [name]Luna[/name]. But I do adore [name]Luna[/name], and I think [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name] is fab! I do really love [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Mary[/name], though, too! What about two middles? [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name] [name]Mary[/name]? [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Mary[/name] [name]Luna[/name]? I think those would be lovely, too.

I don’t care for [name]Luna[/name]. There’s nothing wrong with it as a name, I just don’t care for it.

[name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name] just doesn’t do it for me but I can’t put my finger on what I don’t like about it.

It’s not my taste. I would only suggest [name]Luna[/name] to someone who specifically wants to channel the moon, the atmosphere, or the planets in some way. Otherwise I think it’s a name that’s more fit for a pet.

Hmm…
I think [name]Luna[/name] is really spunky and elegant. I love the connotations surrounding [name]Luna[/name] and the fact that it’s Spanish for ‘moon’, [name]Luna[/name] is such a lovely choice. I think [name]Luna[/name] does have teasing potential I can imagine [name]Luna[/name]-tic (lunatic) or Looney [name]Luna[/name] being yelled out across the playground but then any name can be made fun of. Furthermore it also depends what type of school you’re child will attend if it’s multi-cultural with a range of different names than your child will be fine. If your child attends a school full of kids named [name]Archie[/name] then it won’t work.

No one has mentioned [name]Luna[/name] Tuna yet.

I love HP and can’t get into this name. I didn’t like the character either.

I like [name]Emilia[/name]. As a middle name it’s distinctive, but it kind blends with [name]Emilia[/name].

A lot of other people like it, but I wouldn’t use it. Maybe with a different first name it could be a middle name.

I like [name]Luna[/name]. It makes me think of the pale green nocturnal moth of that name, which I always thought was lovely. I don’t think it has any worse nickname potential than other names; somebody can always think of something. I have never heard of a pet called [name]Luna[/name], either, as some have mentioned. But a pet can be named just about anything, so I wouldn’t let that stop you.

[name]Luna[/name] has been my absolute favourite name for a girl since I was about 7 years old, and I’m thrilled to see someone else considering it! However I’ve found it’s very hard to find middle names that fit well with it - [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Luna[/name] is lovely! [name]Mary[/name] is my own name and although I like it, I have never loved it for a first name for several reasons and always wished it was my middle - I second one of the suggestions above of [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Mary[/name] [name]Luna[/name]. Good luck with everything

I feel like Im in your boat. A part of me loves it and a part of me thinks she would get called “loony”.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Luna[/name]. I don’t think it’s too cutesy. I can see where you’re coming from with the teasing. [name]Luna[/name]-tic. Maybe it’s safest as a middle name. Either way, I think it’s a beautiful name and it’s a shame we have to worry so much about bullying.
