im not overly keen of hepzibah, but dont know what it is connected to make it so awful? thanks
It’s not really attractive in sound or look, and it’s not easy to pronounce and has super overt religious connotations. Any of those things could cause a person not to favor it.
Agree with the above. And it’s so common and trendy. It seems like every other little girl these days is a [name]Hepzibah[/name], Hypzzibah, Hipzeeba, etc.
thankyou
Hepzibah is the name pf many characters: Hezekiah’s wife in the Bible; Hepzibah Pyncheon, a character in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel, The House of the Seven Gables; a Harry Potter witch, a Pogo comic strip skunk, a Marvel comic book alien as well as a place name in Georgia and West Virginia. My favourite literary Hepzibah is the little golden-haired orphan girl nicknamed Eppie in George Eliot’s “Silas Marner” (a book I loved as a young girl). I like the name’s meaning “delight” but the name is an acquired taste so is not everyone’s cup of tea. Some consider it clunky and the sound unattractive but I think it’s a pretty bold name with an adorable nn of Eppie. I don’t find it trendy or common in the slightest so I don’t agree with Blade’s statement.
I couldn’t have said it any better, I agree with this completely.
- [name]Athena[/name]
I’d wager to guess the look and sound of it.
The sound like others have said and maybe the connections. It also has a very old time feel and not the type of cool vintage feel that other vintage names have.
Is this name the new it name? A pp said it is very common and almost every little girl has it, which would be a shock to me. I have never seen it used and would consider it rare. I was just wondering if I am missing something.
I was being facetious. Definitely a rarity.
I actually laughed out loud. Hipzeeba, ahahahaha.
For some reason it sounds like something one of the flying monkeys in wizard of oz would be named lol
According to my DD is sounds like a new sort of cola candy “Pepsi [name]Bar[/name]”.
Hmmm… bet people would buy a chocolate coated cola bar! Maybe I should patent that? LOL
I would say [name]Hepzibah[/name] with a Hep-sound and [name]Hephzibah[/name] with a Hef-sound?
I prefer [name]Hepzibah[/name] of the two. I don’t mind it, but I like the heavier, odder Biblical names. Also I’m fond of z’s. [name]Keziah[/name], [name]Tirzah[/name], Tzipporah, etc.
There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s a perfectly acceptable name.
