What’s your favorite feminization? Would you use one? [name]Do[/name] you have any in your family tree? Are there any out there that really bug you? Here are some I’ve been rolling around lately:
From the ones listed I’m using [name]Zephyrine[/name] – [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Zephyrine[/name] [name]Saga[/name]. And I like [name]Simone[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Claudia[/name], and [name]Justine[/name]. There aren’t really any that bother me.
I also like:
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Wilhelmina[/name]
[name]Isadora[/name] (male version [name]Isadore[/name])
[name]Alexandra[/name]
There’s probably more but I can’t think of more right now. I’ll be back later maybe.
My best friend’s name is [name]Justine[/name], so I obviously like that one
I also really like [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], and [name]Willa[/name].
In my family, we have a couple examples of [name]Yosefa[/name]/[name]Josepha[/name], a [name]Jessie[/name] - not a [name]Jessica[/name]/[name]Jessamine[/name], just [name]Jessie[/name] - this was my great-grandmother, a [name]Joanne[/name], and an [name]Arielle[/name] and a [name]Jordanna[/name].
My sister has said she intends to use [name]Raphaela[/name] at first opportunity.
I like:
[name]Simone[/name]
[name]Thomasin[/name]
[name]Benjamina[/name] (husband forbade, and he’s a [name]Benjamin[/name]…)
[name]Willa[/name]/Wilhemina
[name]Zephirine[/name] - Slight preference for this spelling because its a kind of rose I really like.
[name]Ramona[/name] - [name]Will[/name] never be able to use, but love it.
[name]Natania[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] - I love [name]Caroline[/name] incredibly, but everyone loves [name]Charlotte[/name] more? Not sure why.
[name]Felicia[/name] - though oddly, I’m not really into [name]Felix[/name].
I like most of the female forms of [name]Joseph[/name] but can’t use them myself. I wouldn’t use [name]Jessie[/name] by itself but I like it as a NN for [name]Jessamine[/name].
My favourite feminization is [name]Georgia[/name]. I find [name]Georgina[/name] and [name]Georgiana[/name] too frilly- I think [name]Georgia[/name] is beautiful and feminine enough as it is. The ones that bug me are the ones that sound like you’ve just added a girly ending to a boy’s name, like [name]Jamesina[/name] and [name]Thomasina[/name].
I also like [name]Stephanie[/name], even though it’s not the most coolest name right now.
To my ear, [name]Georgia[/name] sounds more like just a girly ending on a boy’s name than [name]Jamesina[/name]/[name]Thomasina[/name]?
[name]Georg[/name]-uh - less different from [name]George[/name] than [name]Jay[/name]-muh-SEEN-uh or tom-uh-SEEN-uh are from their male sources?
Not really fussing at you, just thinking about how everyone’s perceptions are different.
I do prefer [name]Thomasin[/name] to [name]Thomasina[/name] though. But I like n endings in general, keeps them from floating off to fairyland.
I just realized I forgot all the feminine forms of [name]Alexander[/name] - my two favourites are one of the shortest and the longest I know of, [name]Alexa[/name] & [name]Alexandrina[/name], NN [name]Drina[/name]. [name]Love[/name] both, will never use either, that’s why I forgot them.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]/[name]Josephina[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Thomasina[/name]/[name]Tamsin[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Adamina[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Zephyrine[/name], and [name]Lucia[/name] that have been mentioned. I would probably say my favorite is [name]Charlotte[/name], as that’s the one highest on my list, but I also really love [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Johanna[/name]/[name]Giovanna[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], and [name]Camille[/name] (although [name]Camille[/name] is technically unisex, I suppose, but it feels very feminine to me! I guess [name]Camilla[/name] would also apply?).
