I voted [name]Clotilda[/name]! I love it for the nn [name]Tilly[/name], and [name]Lottie[/name], and even [name]Chloe[/name]. I think it’s really sweet and unexpected, but still has all the spunk of [name]Matilda[/name]. I love that it reminds me of [name]Clodagh[/name], too, which is a huge Gaelic GP of mine.
Marilda and Everilda get honorable mention. I like Marilda because it’s so close to [name]Matilda[/name], and I love the nn [name]Mari[/name] (and [name]Ari[/name]), and I like Everilda because of its easy access to [name]Evie[/name], but it seems like a smoosh of [name]Everett[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name], somehow it feels a bit masculine to me. Maybe because it reminds me of [name]Everett[/name]'s [name]German[/name] original [name]Eberhard[/name]…
I’ve always had a soft spot for Casilda but then I love many saint names ([name]Saint[/name] Casilda of Toledo, Spain). I also like [name]Clotilda[/name] and Everilda.
Arilda – maiden of the hearth
Athilda – from the elder tree
Hermilda – battle of force
Rosilda – horse riding warrior
[name]Wilda[/name] – untamed
Xilda – tribute
I like [name]Clotilda[/name] the best, although I do prefer [name]Clotilde[/name]. Not that I actually like it, but out of these options, I best go with [name]Clotilda[/name]. All of them sound very …strange.
I can’t say I’m overly fond of any of these, however, my vote went to Thorilda, because there’s something whimsical yet strong about it…has depth and soul.
I voted for Everilda, but I really like Quenilda, [name]Romilda[/name], Sunilda, Marilda and Casilda.
Also love Alvilda, and simple [name]Tilda[/name]/[name]Milda[/name]/[name]Gilda[/name].
Also found Somerilda on my list but she’s a bit of a mouthful.
There are a lot of -hild names in my family which is where the -ilda names come from, so I’m more than likely to be actually using one of these. Right now I’m leaning toward Alvilde/Alvilda since it’s one of the more familiar ones here in Norway.
I don’t care for any -ilda names. They seem very old-lady to me, and not in a good way. More like old-lady witch instead of old-lady chic. Am alone in this? Lol.
