What's your favorite name?

[name]Do[/name] you have a name that you have liked consistently for a long time? Please share you favorite name(s). I am looking to add to my list and would love to hear what’s at the top of other people’s lists

It’s really hard to say, but the names that have consistently been near the top of a list, from the beginning of my name-nerdery are:

[name]Allegra[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]

[name]August[/name]
[name]Ambrose[/name] (though I don’t find it usable)

[name]Nora[/name] has been my favourite name for probably 10 years. I will probably never use it, and I know a few young [name]Nora[/name]'s now- but it still will never lose it’s magic in my eyes.
As for boys, I have always loved names from my family; [name]Charles[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Archibald[/name].
I think for me to love a name for a very long time it has to be traditional and timeless, where as my actual naming style is slightly more ‘out there’.
Top of my list now for girl and boy are [name]Olive[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name], and they have probably been there for about 3 years now- not sure if that counts as a long time…

Since I started getting into names about 4 years ago… [name]Iris[/name], [name]Nicolas[/name] {previously [name]Nicholas[/name]}, [name]Juliette[/name]/[name]Juliet[/name], & [name]Anneliese[/name]. The rest are newer but these have been on my list the longest. [name]Anneliese[/name] isn’t a top favorite of mine anymore but I still really like it. [name]Seraphina[/name] is a name I started to really like maybe a year? after I really started to get into names. It’s changed to [name]Seraphine[/name] but it’s still name I love and adore. It’s a name I used for my a lot of my usernames and such in the past on name websites.

My absolute favorite name ever though has to be [name]Iris[/name].

[name]Laine[/name] (g)
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]

[name]Weston[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Jameson[/name]
[name]Silas[/name]

[name]Violet[/name] and [name]Desmond[/name]

[name]Thomas[/name]. I’ve liked it ever since primary school but I doubt I’ll use it now, unless I have 4-5 sons

Girls are harder- almost all my current top girl names are new on my lists. I think [name]Lily[/name] is the oldest though. [name]Lovely[/name] [name]Lily[/name].

Boy: [name]Reeve[/name] since I read it in “A Face on the Milk Carton” when I was an adolescent (DH hates)
Girl: Not sure…I’ve liked [name]Arwen[/name] for a long time but like [name]Eira[/name] or Eirwen now. DH vetoed both “[name]Eir[/name]” names and we may not use any of those; Maewen/Maywen is my new possible favorite that I am ruminating over. Also, [name]Marina[/name] which is also vetoed :frowning:

For a boy I love the name [name]Leonardo[/name] because it sounds both classy and exotic. It means “strong as a lion” and I think the nickname [name]Leo[/name] is adorable and ages well. For a girl my current favorite is the French pronunciation of [name]Genevieve[/name], which is Geneviève (pronounced zhahn-vee-EV). It means “tribe woman” and sounds very regal and elegant. The French pronunciation would definitely be unique here in the United States. [name]Eve[/name] is also a lovely nickname for it and is a great alternative for the nickname [name]Gen[/name]. I love both of these names and hope to use them for my future children. [name]Eve[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] sound like a great pair!

The names that have consistently been at the top are:
[name]Alexander[/name], [name]Owen[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]Jack[/name]. All of my other tops have come and gone, but these have stuck around.

For girl’s it’s a bit different. [name]Stella[/name] is probably still my favorite name, but completely unusable. For that reason I’m trying to “force” myself to fall out of love with it. Besides that [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] are the only names that have stuck around.

[name]Cleo[/name], [name]Viola[/name] and [name]Gemma[/name] are all long-time loves. For boys, it’s [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Orlando[/name].

For a boy, [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]James[/name]. I just love them because they’re classic with a British feel and they come with cute nicknames for a little boy like [name]Ollie[/name] and [name]Jay[/name].

For a girl, I’d have to say [name]Georgiana[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though I’ve liked other names longer, like [name]Kate[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name], nothing compares to my infatuation with this name. I have no idea what attracts me to this name, probably because its old fashioned and romantic. [name]Even[/name] though I’ll probably never get to use it I think it will always be special for me.

[name]Arthur[/name] is the only name that has consistently been in my tops for a very long time.

[name]Elda[/name] is a name I’ve loved for years - sadly can’t use it as its too close to a family member

Other names I’ve loved for many years are:
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]

[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] (mn of my youngest)

My 2 absolute favourite names are [name]Nathaniel[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name].

The only names I’ve had on my list for years are

girl:
[name]Blair[/name]
[name]Sage[/name]

boy:
[name]Ian[/name]
[name]Axel[/name]

both:
[name]Cameron[/name]

My favorites change ALL. THE. TIME. But my current absolute favorite is [name]George[/name] for a boy. IDK about girls, though.

[name]Saoirse[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]

[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]

I have liked [name]Belle[/name] for a long time, I think this is because me and my partner feel so strongly about the name and there are no others that we can agree on at the moment. For a boy I love the name [name]Reuben[/name] [name]James[/name], it sounds so powerful but sophisticated at the same time. [name]Rupert[/name] is another favorite, I think I just like the ‘roo’ sound at the beginning. I’m hooked on [name]Aurora[/name] because my Mother’s name is [name]Dawn[/name] and that is the meaning of [name]Aurora[/name]. I have a double barrel name ([name]Megan[/name]-rose) but I can’t decide whether [name]Aurora[/name] is a stand-alone name or should be paired with another name, like [name]Jane[/name]?

[name]Thora[/name], [name]Juniper[/name], and [name]Winter[/name] have been consistently at the top of my girl list for the last three or four years. Before that, my favorites from age 11 until three or four years ago were [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. I like noun-names for girls, can you tell?

As for boys, [name]Wyatt[/name], [name]Casper[/name], and [name]George[/name]. Boys actually shift more than girls, for me. I find it easier to be charmed by a boys’ name, but I fall more deeply in love with the girls’ names.
