I’m not adding place names to me list, but in light of all the threads about names people like that might not be popular on Nameberry, I started thinking about names I like that might not fit on Nameberry. Some of them are place names, though I generally don’t like place names without special meaning. I also know that there are plenty of berries who don’t like place names. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Alexandria[/name] I actually like a lot of place names, i just wouldn’t use them unless they had special meaning to me. Here’s some place names I like:
[name]Aragon[/name]
[name]Arcadia[/name]
[name]Avalon[/name]
[name]Caspian[/name]
[name]Cyprus[/name]
[name]Delphi[/name]
[name]Dakota[/name] – either
[name]Grayling[/name] (place in Alaska – seems trendy but I like it)
[name]Kiana[/name] (place in Alaska)
[name]Odessa[/name] (Ukraine)
[name]Olympia[/name]
[name]Persia[/name]
[name]Salem[/name]
[name]Sylvania[/name] (place in [name]Georgia[/name])
[name]Valencia[/name] (Spain)
[name]Xenia[/name] (place in Ohio)
So even though place names aren’t the thing around here on Nameberry, what place names do you like?
I love [name]Milan[/name], [name]London[/name], [name]Paris[/name], [name]Sydney[/name], [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Brooklyn[/name], and maybe [name]Regina[/name] (pronounced re-jean-a) not like the place (re-jye-nah), and Victoria Geneva and Vienna are gorgeous! Kingston is amazing on a little boy, London is ok.
My Mom suggested the name for my brother’s child (thought it would be a boy, but we got a little girl). At first I didn’t like it but it’s grown on me. I think it sounds more masculine than [name]Landon[/name] so not sure why it’s considered feminine. Mom also suggested [name]Eden[/name] for a boy. Thought she was crazy at first but I love it now
[name]Hi[/name] Dantea, from your list, I love [name]Caspian[/name], [name]Grayling[/name] (alas it’s also the name of a fish) and [name]Odessa[/name]. I love [name]Geneva[/name], [name]Florence[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Carolina[/name], [name]Virginia[/name] and [name]Adelaide[/name]. If it didn’t have such a trendy sound, Normandy/Normandie would be quite nice too.
[name]Geneva[/name]
[name]London[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]London[/name] on both genders
[name]Siena[/name]
[name]Berlin[/name]
[name]Holland[/name] nn [name]Holly[/name]
I like a lot of things you guys lists I like [name]Paris[/name] well enough on a boy (and am aware of the Greek connection ) but think it’s too girly right now.
I agree completely about [name]London[/name] having such masculine sounds! I met a boy [name]London[/name] once and was hooked.
@Svea – i guess [name]Elysia[/name] could count since it’s a diminutive of Elysium which is a place but only if it’s said the proper Greek way ee-lee-seuh
