There are so many great girl names out there, but some I don’t think I’d dare use!! What’s the one name that you love that you couldn’t bring yourself to use?
[name]Odette[/name].
I [name]LOVE[/name] it but would only use it in a middle name spot.
I also adore [name]Niamh[/name] but know I wouldn’t use it for a first or middle name spot .
I’m the poll creator and I realized I didn’t answer my own question! The name I really love for a girl, but fear ridicule is: [name]Plum[/name]. I adore the name [name]Plum[/name]!! So stinkin’ cute!
Probably [name]Eulalia[/name]. I really love the sound and rhythm, but in reality it’s too frilly for me to use.
I love [name]Cordelia[/name], but I don’t think I’d have it in me to name my little girl that. But I think it’s so pretty.
[name]Tallulah[/name]
[name]Sunday[/name]
Megaera, perhaps… Or [name]Sable[/name].
There are many, but [name]Andromeda[/name] tops the list!
serafina - i love it but bc of the affelck association and its so frilly i wouldn’t use it
OK, don’t laugh…it’s [name]Michaela[/name]. I love it and I think it is very traditional, but because of the trendy forms ([name]McKayla[/name], Mykayluh, whatever, ect) we just can’t do it.
Would have to be…
-
[name]Tallulah[/name] (really cute and spunky but would be so questioned and disliked by family and I just don’t want to deal with their whining lol)
-
[name]Stella[/name] ([name]LOVE[/name] its but it’s a family member’s dog’s name -_- what a waste; I could still use it but there would just be a weirdness there with the connection to the doggy)

[name]Minerva[/name], [name]Sunday[/name] and [name]January[/name].
[name]Persephone[/name] or [name]Calliope[/name]. I’m not Greek and I study British history, not Greek. There are plenty of awesome names in British history I wouldn’t use for a daughter either though. Like Boudacca ([name]Bo[/name]).
Is the traditional version normally pronounced like [name]Michael[/name] with an a on the end and stress on the first syllable, or like ma-[name]KAY[/name]-la like the nouveau [name]McKayla[/name] variants?
Years before the [name]McKayla[/name] trend I met a lady named [name]Michaela[/name] who pronounced it the first way I mentioned. I’d never heard [name]Michaela[/name] before and found it a classy and striking name. I thought of it as another name in the feminization category like [name]Georgia[/name], [name]Thomasina[/name] and [name]Daniela[/name] until I started hearing of little girls that spelled their names Makaylah, [name]McKayla[/name], etc. Too bad that trend might have tainted [name]Michaela[/name] for a while.
[name]Echo[/name] and [name]Persephone[/name].
[name]Echo[/name] has a super pretty sound, but it must be really annoying to have “echo, echo, echo!” said to you all the time.
[name]Persephone[/name] has a pretty, soft and feminine sound, but it might be too out there…
So many! [name]Cornelia[/name] nn Neeley, [name]Maisie[/name], really sweet cutesy ones like [name]Honey[/name] & [name]Babe[/name], names like [name]Heather[/name] & [name]Sarah[/name] that I find beautiful but are so played out among women in my age group. Great question!
[name]Love[/name] this thread!
Celerie- sounds so fresh and frenchy but alas, it’s celery
[name]Theodora[/name]- romantic and smart but too fussy for everyday
[name]Leilani[/name]- feel like I have to be Hawaiian to use it
[name]Tiffany[/name]- so many bad connotations at this point but I love how it sounds so sweet and candy-like
[name]Vesper[/name]- afraid it’s too out there
[name]Indigo[/name]- afraid it’s too out there
[name]Wisteria[/name]! It’s so gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful.
Second would be [name]Astoria[/name].

(that was supposed to be a quote from blairx)
I have only heard it pronounced like “muh-kay-luh”. Although it looks like [name]Michael[/name] with an ‘a’ at the end, I’m pretty sure its prn like [name]McKayla[/name].
