It’s been a long time since I’ve been on the boards and I’m still on the search for a new name for myself. This is my current list, although I’m not in love with any of them. I would love to hear other people’s opinions on these names;

Most of all I like [name]Eira[/name]. To me, the others seem a little fussy (not for a baby but for a person changing her name.) Only potential concern with [name]Eira[/name] is the androgyny the name, but that’s also part of what makes it really cool imo. I like the idea of a new name having a real feeling of “newness” and [name]Eira[/name] isn’t immediately recognizable, but it’s simple and strong. I knew someone who changed her name to [name]Pearl[/name]. [name]Pearl[/name] is a lovely name, but as this person’s new name it had such a feeling of trying to convey a certain image, that it just seemed silly. So I’m wondering: what is it that you dislike about your current name? What are the qualities you’re looking for in a new name?

I like [name]Eira[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name], Sophoronia (and nn [name]Sophie[/name]!), [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Florence[/name], and [name]Violet[/name].

I really love [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] (nickname [name]Nell[/name] is so cute!), and [name]Eira[/name] too. My name’s [name]Ottilie[/name] so I’m not going to comment on that.

@emmabobemma - thank you for your input! :slight_smile: The things I dislike about my current name is the popularity of it, the sound, the look…pretty much everything. It’s also very dated to my age group. I think what I’m looking for in a new name is something that’s not common, but not completely unknown, and something that’s not very popular.

I think [name]Eleanor[/name] may be my favourite, purely because I love the option of [name]Nell[/name] as a nickname.

From your list I really love [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name], and [name]Aili[/name]! I prefer the spellings Ailee and Aily though. I think they’re all beautiful. Especially [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]!
