I’m going to be legally changing my own name soon. The full name I’m planning to use is 25 characters long, with two middles. Is this unwieldy? I’m seriously considering dropping one of the middles, because I’m not a big fan of lengthy names, but I’m loathe to part with either of them.
I don’t want to say the full name here, but it has the same length and initial letters as this:
My husband’s full name has 25 letters and 12 syllables! He is from Mexico so he has two last names, but we usually drop the second last name on bills and unofficial things. If the names are important, use the whole thing.
My name is 26 characters with two middles and I don’t have any issues. Only one middle name fits on my driver’s license but that doesn’t bother me. When I got married, I moved my maiden name to the middle name spot giving me two middles. I wanted to keep my maiden name without hyphenating.
My full name is 28 letters long (first and double barrelled surname are 22) and it hasn’t caused any serious issues. Especially if you’re not intending on using/writing down your middles often or all the time, I think it’s fine.
