When is similar just too much??

So I have a habit of liking names that have very similar sounds, when I eventually start having children its really important for me to name my first son [name]Ronan[/name] nn [name]Ro[/name], however, most of the names I like share a similar N sound.
Like:
[name]Austin[/name]
[name]Conrad[/name]
[name]Jonas[/name]

Could they still work as sibling names? I know [name]Conrad[/name] is probably the stand out due to the strong D ending. But I just wondered when is it just a sound that’s too similar? I live in Australia so these names aren’t very popular here either.

[name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Jonas[/name] are too close for my liking. I think the others are completely fine!

Or you could just do [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Leo[/name]. So cute together!

I think that having [name]Conrad[/name] and [name]Jonas[/name] or [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Jonas[/name] in a sibset teeters on the edge of being a little too close. However, that’s really a stretch. I don’t think the average person would find it unusual at all.

I do know how you feel about really being drawn to certain sounds. My son is [name]Rhys[/name] [name]Owen[/name], and when my husband and I were scheming for names for our currently-baking baby, we loved [name]Rowan[/name]… until we realized [name]Rowan[/name] is basically our first son’s first initial combined with his middle name. Oye.

I actually know a sibset of [name]Rowan[/name] nn [name]Ro[/name] (boy, similar to [name]Ronan[/name]), [name]Gavin[/name] and [name]Austin[/name]. So I think [name]Ronan[/name], [name]Austin[/name] and [name]Conrad[/name] would work together. I do, however, think [name]Jonas[/name] is too close to [name]Ronan[/name]. But I do agree with mocro that most people probably wouldn’t notice it.

My husband has this issue, especially for boys. His list looks like this:

[name]Ronan[/name], [name]Lonan[/name], [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Owen[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Corbin[/name]!

I think [name]Austin[/name] and [name]Ronan[/name] are probably okay together, as are [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Conrad[/name]. [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Jonas[/name] is too close for me.

I think [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Conrad[/name] sound just fine to me! [name]Austin[/name] and [name]Jonas[/name] are to close for me.

It becomes too similar when it rhymes imo, like [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Conan[/name] would be a no or [name]Zoe[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name], where there is only a slight change in sounds, so of yours [name]Jonas[/name] would be the only one that’s too similar for my tastes since the [name]Jon[/name] and [name]Ron[/name] part rhyme.

I actually think they would all work together.
For me too close is when it really is like [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Conan[/name] or even [name]Conan[/name] and [name]Roman[/name].
But [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Jonas[/name] while sharing the middle -ona- are still distinctly different in my accent.

But you are right [name]Conrad[/name] is the stand out name because of the ending. I however, don’t think it would be problematic or odd.

I don’t think any of your names rhyme too much. I wouldn’t pair up [name]Ronan[/name] with [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Conan[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]Roman[/name] etc because both syllables rhyme very closely. [name]Austin[/name], [name]Conrad[/name] and [name]Jonas[/name] don’t rhyme too much.
