When meanings just completely ruin the name for you

So today I thought I found the perfect name, “[name_f]Ascella[/name_f]”. I loved the look of it, the sound of it, the feeling of it, and not to mention it goes so, so well with my last name- and then… then I looked up the meaning of said perfect name and what does it say???

“ARMPIT”

IT MEANS ARMPIT

My god, I could literally cry right now.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] to rub salt in the wound “armpit” is what people used to tease me with in school because of another name that was associated with me before I had it changed.

Does anyone know of any names extremely similar to [name_f]Ascella[/name_f]- preferably with a… better meaning?

I see why you wouldn’t want to pick a name that means arm pit. So sorry you got teased:(

If I got the pronunciation right, [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is pretty similar? It means warlike which is definitely a notch up

[name_f]Adella[/name_f], [name_f]Ariella[/name_f], [name_f]Alessia[/name_f], Azula

I can definitely sympathize, while not all meaning are dealbreakers for there are so e thatvhave definitely ruined names and I can see why this is dealbreaker for you.

[name_f]Alcyone[/name_f]
[name_f]Sibylla[/name_f]/[name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Alula[/name_f]
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Alzata[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessa[/name_f]
Scylla (warning this was a sea monster in mythology but tbh a sea monster is cooler than an armpit still)
[name_f]Aquilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Aquila[/name_f] ([name_f]Aquila[/name_f] is traditionally masculine with [name_f]Aquilia[/name_f] being the feminine form, but I’ve seen [name_f]Aquila[/name_f] used for girls as well.)
[name_f]Estrella[/name_f] (eh-stray-ah)
[name_f]Estella[/name_f] (es-tell-ah)
Asuna
[name_f]Lilias[/name_f]/[name_f]Lileas[/name_f]

[name_m]How[/name_m] annoying!
Maybe one of these might work:

Assela, Acelia
Ascelin
Isala
Ysella
[name_f]Avila[/name_f]
[name_f]Axelle[/name_f], Axella, Axela
Enara
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Isolda[/name_f]
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
Ascherea

Armpit!! Oh dear, yes — not ideal!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about Aella? It’s a Greek mythology name with an awesome meaning: “whirlwind”.

Aceline
Adelaise
Aella
Aizivella
[name_f]Alizeh[/name_f]
Aljeurinne
Arsinoe (ar-sin-oh-way)
[name_f]Asteria[/name_f]

[name_f]Ascella[/name_f] does look and sound so pretty, and normally I wouldn’t let a meaning ruin a name for me, but Armpit is a pretty bad meaning, so I can sympathize here. [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] would be my only suggestions.

I just want to thank everyone for replying and helping me find similar names! I actually really loved some of the names that was suggested.

Arecella
Acelia

Acelina
Asela
[name_f]Azalee[/name_f]
Acelenia
[name_u]Seneca[/name_u]

[name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] - supernatural victory

Great ideas! I second “[name_f]Ariella[/name_f]”

Well the armpit association and the teasing is unfortunate.
Personally, I don’t let the meaning ruin it for me, because every name has its own special meaning to each individual.
