When spelling makes all the difference

Catherine over in other spellings, the same for Caitlin. I’m just completely over K’s. They’re so overused right now.
Allison over Alison or Alyson or any other options
Margot over Margo
Anne over Ann. Ann looks unfinished to me.
Claire of Clare or Clair.
Norah over Nora.
Vivienne over Vivian.
Lilah over Lyla or Lila. It just feels more finished with the h.
Colette over Collette.
Nathalie over Natalie. I just love the French flair of Nathalie.
And my name is Brittany, and I hate that any other spellings even exist. What is Britney? It’s not even the same freaking name. I do not understand. And God what is with Brittani, Britnie, Brittaney, Bryttany, and Brittnee.

[name]Katharine[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] tied, the others not even in the same league.
I like [name]Caitlin[/name], no other version of [name]Caitlin[/name] need apply.
[name]Hannah[/name], [name]Deborah[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], and [name]Susannah[/name] over all those without their -h.
The oft-overlooked [name]Vivien[/name] over either [name]Vivian[/name] OR [name]Vivienne[/name], for a girl.
[name]Annabel[/name] & [name]Isabel[/name] over [name]Annabelle[/name] and [name]Isabelle[/name]
[name]Raphaela[/name] over Raphaella, [name]Rafaella[/name], etc. etc.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] over [name]Elisabeth[/name]. I like that z, leave it there.
[name]Talia[/name] over [name]Tahlia[/name] or [name]Talya[/name]. [name]Katia[/name] over [name]Katya[/name].
[name]Aaliyah[/name] over [name]Aliyah[/name] slightly, both of those over any other variation.

I prefer [name]Katherine[/name] to [name]Catherine[/name], but [name]Caitlin[/name] over all variants.
[name]Sophie[/name] over [name]Sofie[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] over [name]Sofia[/name].
[name]Stephen[/name] over [name]Steven[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name] over [name]Zoe[/name]
[name]Anne[/name] over [name]Ann[/name]
[name]Madeleine[/name] over [name]Madeline[/name] and [name]Madelyn[/name]
[name]Michaela[/name] over [name]Mikayla[/name] etc.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] over [name]Elisabeth[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name] over [name]Reece[/name] and [name]Reese[/name]
[name]Christina[/name] over [name]Kristina[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name] or [name]Vivien[/name] over [name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Isobel[/name] over [name]Isabelle[/name]

[name]Stefan[/name] and [name]Stephen[/name] are different names to me that don’t sound the same. [name]Both[/name] are quite popular in UK but [name]Stephen[/name]/[name]Steven[/name] are really common.

For me although i wouldn’t use it i really like spelling [name]Isobel[/name] but strongly dislike [name]Isabelle[/name].

[name]Caitlin[/name] is lovely [name]Katelyn[/name] is awful and looks totally made up to me.

I agree with @claireelise, [name]Clair[/name] does look very incomplete! I think most names with an R on the end, or ending in I look very incomplete! And also I agree with @claireelise with [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Ann[/name]. [name]Anne[/name] looks nice, and proper. [name]Ann[/name] looks tomboyish and dull. [name]IMO[/name]

I also agree with kala_way:
[name]Lily[/name] over [name]Lilly[/name]
[name]Anabel[/name] over [name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Skye[/name] over [name]Sky[/name]
[name]Jaden[/name] ove [name]Jadon[/name]

Now, last, the [name]KAITLYN[/name] arguement!
I prefer [name]Kaitlyn[/name] over all of the other spellings, and I really dislike [name]Kaitlyn[/name] spelled with a C. I think it looks a bit strange, and out of place. [name]Katelyn[/name] looks strange because the e & l look weird together there, and anything with 2 N’s looks too long!

In general, I prefer the “original” spellings. Like [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Braden[/name], etc. It bugs me when people change the spelling for no reason. Especially adding y’s to a masculine name to make it feminine. Adding a y doesn’t make it feminine or unique. It’s still a boy name on a girl, just spelled wrong.

I agree with the pp’s who mentioned [name]Anne[/name] over [name]Ann[/name](looks unfinished) and [name]Isabel[/name](or even [name]Isobel[/name]) over [name]Isabelle[/name].

Oh, I forgot to mention I usually prefer less frilly spellings. [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] over [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Annabelle[/name]. I also tend to prefer a non “a” ending on names that can go that way (like [name]Eleanor[/name] over [name]Eleanora[/name], [name]Claire[/name] over [name]Clara[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] over [name]Josephina[/name], etc).

[name]Katherine[/name] I prefer over [name]Catherine[/name].
And I love the name [name]Madeleine[/name], but not when it’s spelled [name]Madeline[/name] or [name]Madelyn[/name].
