I’m facing this issue myself!
I’ve always liked the name [name]Cassandra[/name] nn [name]Cassie[/name], and would love to use it myself. However, it’s the name of my cousin of the same age as me. We live in different countries, but I love her so much, and want to get closer with her.
So to change my name to hers is…a bit of a no no. Lol.
There are other names that have been either taken/tainted by other people I’ve known.
What about you berries? What names do you love but can’t use due to family/close friends?
Why not [name]Cassia[/name]? Still too close probably.
If I were your cousin, I would feel a bit weirded out if you renamed yourself my name. I wouldn’t personally use any name that has been used by family unless it was to honour them.
I love my cousins kids names, [name]Holden[/name], [name]Brennen[/name] and [name]Londyn[/name].
There’s also a [name]Ryker[/name] that I think is a neat name too!
Another cousin has [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Meredith[/name]
Most of my cousins (and there’s a lot of them!) have chosen great names, but luckily none of them have been my favorites!
My father is an ‘[name]Al[/name]’, and I always thought that if I had a daughter, I would honor him by naming her [name]Allison[/name], which could be shortened to [name]Allie[/name]. Unfortunately, my cousin named one of her daughters [name]Allison[/name]. I may use another name that starts with ‘[name]Al[/name]’. I thought of [name]Alena[/name], since my dad’s mother was [name]Magdalena[/name], so it would honor them both. But it doesn’t seem to shorten as easily into the [name]Allie[/name] nickname that I liked.
Yes! My cousin used the name [name]Benjamin[/name] for his son when [name]Benjamin[/name] was my favorite boys’ name, and I adore [name]Emmeline[/name] and [name]Lila[/name], and cousins used [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Lyla[/name] for their daughters. I suppose I could use them, but it still feels weird.
My sisters and I are kind of debating over names, too, lol. They’re both teenagers and I’m 23, so I don’t feel too pressured by it, and their favorites change quite often. But I think I liked it better when I thought we didn’t like any of the same names because then I didn’t have to worry about stealing their favorites just because I am going to adopt before they have biological children! I wouldn’t have a problem with using [name]Brody[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], or [name]Everett[/name], but we all want to claim them and I’m one of those that doesn’t want to hurt a fly, much less my loveable two little sisters, haha.
A former classmate from high school named her son [name]Noah[/name] a couple years ago and I thought that made [name]Noah[/name] unusable to me, but we’re hardly friends and I never see her, so I don’t think it would bother me to use it if it came down to that.
