What are your associations for these names? I’m trying to narrow my list down so I figured I would see what people think when they see these names. Thank you for any help you give it is appreciated.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - doesn’t seem very wearable
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u] - too geeky
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] - I like this, uncommon but fits right in with current trends
[name_u]Wade[/name_u] - not fond of it at all, I just think of wading
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] - different vibe to the others, a cool, confident sounding name
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - works on all ages
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] - a classic with go-to nn [name_u]Max[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - a handsome name, but I find it too expected
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u], [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] and [name_u]Logan[/name_u] are my favourites.
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] are my favourites, although I prefer [name_u]James[/name_u] on its own.
The other names I don’t care for much, especially [name_u]Logan[/name_u]. With [name_m]Winston[/name_m], I automatically think [name_m]Churchill[/name_m]; with [name_u]Jensen[/name_u], I think of [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] Button (maybe just British perceptions though, idk).
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] is one of my favorites right now [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] is my husband’s favorite and we both like [name_u]Logan[/name_u]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the wolverine association is a big deal with [name_u]Logan[/name_u]?
My top three from your list are: [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] then [name_u]Jensen[/name_u]. I don’t know what it’s like elsewhere but in [name_m]Oz[/name_m] people will automatically shorten you name to the most obvious thing so that’s a big consideration for me when thinking names but might not be for you.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], politician with big jowls. Not very wearable for the first 60 years. Obvious nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u] - A retired Football player in Australia. A bit edgier than [name_m]Winston[/name_m] but still not very wearable. Obvious nn [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] - The Jetsons cartoon. Lively enough for a child but also mature. Obvious nn [name_f]Jen[/name_f]/[name_f]Jeny[/name_f]
[name_u]Wade[/name_u] - I know a few of people around the 50’s and 60’s called this so it still feels very dated and dorky to me.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] - A nice twist on the ever popular [name_u]James[/name_u] but not as timeless as the original
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - X-Men/[name_m]Wolverine[/name_m]. A strong modern name that doesn’t need a nn
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] - A bit heavy for a child but it could work especially with the nn [name_u]Max[/name_u] or [name_u]Maxi[/name_u]. I prefer Maxakai though
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - A classic you can’t go wrong with this name unless you dislike your choices to be considered popular or common.
I personally like [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] from your list.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - I think of [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m] (Pro - he lead [name_m]Britain[/name_m] through WW2, which is what he tends to be remembered for. [name_u]Con[/name_u] - incredibly racist, committed and supported atrocities across the globe). I would stay very clear of it.
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u] - reminds me of a cartoon wizard
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] - fits in with the popular trend
[name_u]Wade[/name_u] - Deadpool’s first name. I’ll let you decide if that’s good or bad!
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] - surname of my primary school headmaster (who I really didn’t like)
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - one of the few names I just can’t stand. I’m really sorry, I don’t know why myself.
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] - I think of [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] Smart from the old TV show Get Smart! (a bond parody tv series). Fabulous association!
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - lovely name, I think of a boy I knew growing up who had gorgeous curly blonde hair (and looked a weirdly like [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], who I also associate the name with)
[name_m]Winston[/name_m]… [name_m]Churchill[/name_m]
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u]… Character on Bones
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u]… Supernatural…
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]… [name_u]Kim[/name_u] possible
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]… [name_f]Jenna[/name_f]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]… Coach (horse trailer)
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]… [name_m]Sheffield[/name_m] (from the [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] )
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]… [name_u]James[/name_u] from What a Girl Wants with [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] Bynes.
When i first made this list [name_m]Winston[/name_m] was my favorite name now [name_u]Wendell[/name_u] and [name_u]Jensen[/name_u] are my favorites thank you for your thoughts on the names it is very helpful.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - Although I have grown used to it when an acquaintance named their little boy [name_m]Winston[/name_m], I am still not a fan of it. I always think of a dog in a book I once read that made a very bad impression on me.
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u] - I like this name, but my second thought is always the nn [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], which is only for a girl.
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] - When I hear the name [name_u]Jensen[/name_u], I always think of a boy I know who has no arms at all, so although this is not a bad association, I would never use it for my child.
[name_u]Wade[/name_u] - This spelling makes me think of the verb ‘wade’. I prefer [name_m]Wayde[/name_m].
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] - Reminds me of my second cousin and for me this is not exactly a good association. Prefer the spelling [name_m]Jamieson[/name_m].
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - Reminds me of a boy I know and this is definitely not a good association either.
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Always makes me think of my friend’s son, who is absolutely adorable!
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - makes me think of [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - bad association.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m]- [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], 1984, old stodgy politicians
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u]- No strong associations- sounds like some of the names used in the African American community?
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u]- Ackles from Supernatural.
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]- [name_u]Wade[/name_u] and his famous boat Guingelot, a very old English legend that has been lost to history.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]- Surname, preppy
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]- My friend’s little 3 year old nephew and [name_m]Wolverine[/name_m]
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]- A pig from a children’s book, a dog name
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]- Twist, [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and Company, olives
You have a lovely selection of names. Here’s my personal thoughts…
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - very dapper and full of old school charm; I quite like it… perhaps a bit austere for a young child though… maybe as a middle name??
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u] - I’ve only heard this name once as a character on BONES. I can’t get past that. It kinda nice, but kinda geeky.
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] - I quite like it. It’s different, and has a strength about it. Can have a nice unique twist with the right middle name.
[name_u]Wade[/name_u] - X-Men. Deadpool. All I can think of. Sorry.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] - My jury is a little out on this one, has been for a while. It’s nice, but there is something about it that clunks a little to me…
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - Again, X-Men. I really like the name, but it will forever be heavily attached to [name_m]Wolverine[/name_m]. This could be a fun association for a little superhero-obsessed little boy, but probably annoying for a teen/adult that will forever have to put up with the cliche (especially if his features are of a similar look).
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] - I quite like it. There’s something simply classic about it.
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - I’ve been crushing on [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] a lot lately. I love it’s simplistic beauty and charm, but it’s not being overused (at least it doesn’t seem to be). I don’t think you can go wrong with it.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], or the cigarette brand
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u] - No association, but sounds a bit geeky to me (sorry)
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] - Makes me think of a really attractive blond surfer for some reason
[name_u]Wade[/name_u] - Dude from the 70s with a mustache
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] - Whiskey. But I like the nn [name_u]Jamie[/name_u].
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - Airport. But that’s because I live in [name_m]Boston[/name_m], so if you don’t it shouldn’t be a problem
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] - [name_m]Sheffield[/name_m] from The [name_f]Nanny[/name_f]. I actually really like this name and the nn [name_u]Max[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - Twist. Despite its popularity, I’m still a fan bc I love classic names.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m]: [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], I’m pretty sure there was a [name_m]Winston[/name_m] on some TV show like 7th [name_f]Heaven[/name_f] or Home Improvement, not my favorite W name
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u]: [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], nickname [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u]: The Jetsons
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]: Water, I like this name even though I feel most think of it as not usable right now
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]: No big associations, [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]: No big associations but very trendy, i love this name
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]: No big associations, a co-workers son, love this name
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]: I know it’s super popular but I like it, no big associations
[name_m]Winston[/name_m]: I think of navy blue, and gold. Initally I see a man in a navy suit with a gold pocket watch. A polite and well mannered person, a serious deposition, perhaps a child who is not really in to sports, but very intelligent and interested in math and sciences.
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u]: a country boy. He is on a dusty farm, a natural with horses. Spends his days outside with the animals. I also see leather (saddles, cowboy boots ect).
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u]: a boy who is more involved in computers and technology. He loves spending his time video gaming.
[name_u]Wade[/name_u]: another country boy name. I see this boy on a cattle ranch. Lots of lush green scenery, again he is on a horse.
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]: I see greys and blacks against sharp greens. I think of [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. A masculine study, a boy playing with an atlas. Dark hair and light blue eyes on this handsom kid. I see him being dressed well, in something similar to a school uniform. A very strong name and image to match.
[name_u]Logan[/name_u]: a fair haired kid. [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] days, lazy afternoons, iced tea and hammocks. This kid is very laid back and sunny.
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m]: another strong image. I see forest green and rich browns. A boy who loves spending his mornings playing near a forest and his afternoons wrapped in a warm wool plaid blanket with a book.
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]: another laid back little boy. I see light green. He has light brown hair and brown eyes. I also see rolling hills of Tuscany. I see this kid spending time on an orchard just relaxing, flying kites and lounging.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - Nice name, but not very wearable.
[name_u]Wendell[/name_u] - Too dorky for me.
[name_u]Jensen[/name_u] - Handsome, I really like it
[name_u]Wade[/name_u] - Not a fan, makes me think of [name_m]Wayne[/name_m]
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u] - Ok
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] - A bit trendy, but otherwise good
[name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] - My favorite [name_u]Max[/name_u]- name, another one of my favorites from your list
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] - I also really like it, but it’s pretty popular.
