So, I commented on NB’s recent Gothic / Halloween FB post saying how Vesper has always caught my attention. Next minute my husband is agreeing and saying he thinks it’s really cool. And here’s me thinking I won’t bother mentioning it because it won’t be his cup of tea!
Since, I’ve had my detective hat on and I’m just loving it more. The meaning is beautiful (not that positive meaning is mandatory for us, but it is a bonus!) and the mythological background fits in perfectly with our other name loves.
So far my only question is the length - is it too short beside our other names?? (see UC) I think the other similarities in vibe and origin make it fit for me…. BUT I have a big thing about patterns, so the length differential is throwing me slightly.
What do you think about Vesper??
Vesper is giving me major Crimson Peak vibes (anyone who knows about our wedding knows why this is 100% on point with my soul haha), while hubby says it makes him think of James Bond.
Now for combination creating fun!!
These are the girl’s names on our list that have no allocation / no combination:
Reverie
Aurora
Niamh
Caoimhe
Evangeline
Amethyst
Apolline
Delphine
Phoenix
Opal
October
Sonnet
Story
Calanthe
Hypatia
Eponine
Any combination potential / inspiration come to your mind? I’m also down for new suggestions! Also, for context, we always pick double middles.
I want to love Calypso so much, but it just has never clicked for me. I do like the vibe, but just not enough, unfortunately.
These are close to the top of my list too. I’m really like October with Vesper, but the repeated -er sound is clunking a little, I think… I will have to mull.
Amaaaaaaazing suggestions!!
Vesper Story Evangeline & Vesper Hypatia Niamh are just chef’s kiss Vesper Calanthe Sonnet is also just magical!
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] is fabulous! It’s a real favourite of mine too, but my husband would never agree and I think it fits your vibe so much better
It’s sleek and dramatic and glamorous, with bags of energy and fire. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the “evening star” meaning too, although the link to the Catholic service Vespers might put me off slightly since I’m not Catholic.
I don’t find the length problematic at all. It’s got plenty of weight and presence to it despite being a syllable or two shorter than some of your other options. Visually, it’s not a particularly short name.
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] really jumps out at me from that list of middles. I’d vote [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f] or [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] [name_u]Story[/name_u] (or Fable?)
I love [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], even though I’m biased I second [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f] and [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. I also think [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Sonnet[/name_f] sounds good together. And [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f] would be stunning!
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] has a similiar vibe to your other names so I think it works! It’s shorter but it’s a name that has a lot of energy and a lot of presence!!
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] in itself is sleek, interesting and gorgeous!
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u] is one of my all time favorite girl names! I absolutely love the vibe, sound and look. It’s very fairy-like to me, but also very strong and kinda cool?
Some other names I love that give me gothic/mythology/halloween vibes:
[name_f]Sappho[/name_f]
[name_f]Tauriel[/name_f]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillemor[/name_f]
[name_u]Lumen[/name_u]
[name_f]Freydis[/name_f]
[name_f]Hesper[/name_f]
[name_f]Alouette[/name_f]
[name_f]Callidora[/name_f]
[name_f]Anemone[/name_f]
Elendil
[name_f]Eluned[/name_f]
[name_f]Dagmar[/name_f]
I honestly didn’t know [name_f]Anemone[/name_f] was a name! But I think I love it… I always wondered what those flowers were called, and now I know!
I do love [name_f]Alouette[/name_f]. It has such a beautiful sound. So soft and flowy. I’m a long time lover of [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] too - we have it on our list on a different combination.
I love the look of [name_f]Eluned[/name_f], but not so much the pronunciation. It does have major magical vibes though!
