One of my good friends is expecting her 2nd baby, a boy. Her first son is named [name]Aidan[/name], he’s 4 years old. She asked me to help her with names, and wants “unique” names. What kind of names should I be looking for? I mean, they can’t be too unique because it will look strange with [name]Aidan[/name]…right? What kind of names do you guys suggest?
I love pp’s suggestion of [name]Brody[/name]. And remember what a non-name-nerd may think of as “unique” is not what we might think of as unique. So, besides [name]Brody[/name]:’
I agree…I think that to most people, any name is “unique” if it isn’t [name]John[/name] or [name]Michael[/name] or [name]David[/name]. I love the suggestions of [name]Nolan[/name], [name]Miles[/name], [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name]. I also know a family who has 2 boys named [name]Aidan[/name] and [name]Declan[/name].
I have cousins [name]Aiden[/name], [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Liam[/name], [name]Gregory[/name], [name]Eamon[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Cael[/name] and [name]Ennis[/name]. As long as your friend uses an Irish/Galic name the name can be very “unique,” but still flow with [name]Aiden[/name]-- which will actually help tone down [name]Aiden[/name]'s popularity by making the sibset match in style.
[name]Declan[/name] is a great name someone may have already suggested. I also absolutely love the names [name]Breccan[/name] and [name]Cavan[/name] with [name]Aiden[/name].
Thank you for all the help! I admit, she is FAR from being a name nerd. =( I had to plead with her to at least spell [name]Aidan[/name] right! She wanted [name]Ayden[/name]… sigh
So far I have a list of 50 or so names with your help! I liked the suggestion of [name]Brody[/name], [name]Paxton[/name], [name]Archer[/name], [name]Arden[/name] (might be too similar to [name]Aidan[/name]?) and [name]Avery[/name]. The only names she’s told me that she likes are [name]Cole[/name] and [name]Kason[/name] (she wants it spelled with a K…) which aren’t that bad I guess…but maybe she’ll surprise me and pick something really cool!
