Where you named after anyone?

I’m just wondering. I was named after my great grandmother.

My dad was a video game fan, and named me after [name_f]Lara[/name_f] Croft.

No, but my brother was given a variation of our grandad’s name (also our dad’s middle name) for his first name, and his other grandfather’s first name for his middle name. My sister has a variation of our granny’s first name for one of her middle names, and her other grandmother’s first name for her other middle name.

I share the first half of my surname with my dad and my grandad (their first name). I’m thinking about changing it to a second middle, in case I decide to change my surname if I get married. My cousin also has the male version of my name, but I don’t know if he’s named after me haha.

nope, I was named after Die [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] by [name_m]Heinrich[/name_m] [name_m]Heine[/name_m]

Yeah. My first name is after [name_f]Erin[/name_f] from The Waltons and my middle name is after my great grandmother.

Yes, my middle name is after my grandmas. It’s literally come up only once in my entire life though.

My two middle names are my mum’s middle and maiden names.

No, but if I would’ve been a boy my first name would’ve been my mother’s maiden name (actually my grandma pitched a fit about that, so it would’ve been my middle).

I was named after a student my mother had.

My first name is the same as my maternal grandmother, though spelled differently, as we came to find out. My mother was under the impression it was spelled one way when she picked it, but then we find out years later from grandma that it isn’t. (She never went by this name - just the nickname - thus why it wasn’t obvious immediately about the spelling).

My middle name was picked by my maternal grandfather and he chose his month of birth.

I was named after my mother’s mother’s mother’s mother.

I share the middle name [name_f]Dianne[/name_f] with my mom, which she got from my great-aunt, Dini.

Yes, I was named after my great great grandmother whose middle name was [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], my middle name [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] is after my great-grandmother [name_f]Rachel[/name_f].

I didn’t know this until well into my adult years, but I was named after a cousin of my dad’s. My mom wanted to call me [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] & is still angry about it over half a century later.

My middle name [name_u]Ren[/name_u]ée is in honor of my aunt [name_f]Renate[/name_f]. [name_u]Ren[/name_u]ée is the [name_m]French[/name_m] version and [name_f]Renate[/name_f] is the [name_m]German[/name_m].

My parents chose my middle name because combines sounds from both their first names. It is also literally the feminized version of my fathers name, though I think my parents somehow didn’t clue into that.

My first name is actually a “family name”. I share it with at least a half dozen direct maternal ancestors. Ironically my parents weren’t aware of this context either. My name was originally suggested to them by my paternal grandmother.

Yes. I was named after an actress.

Kind of. My mom heard the name [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] on my dad’s first wife’s granddaughter. His wife already had kids before she married my dad, so this girl is no relation to me at all. My mom and I both have the middle name [name_u]Lynn[/name_u].

I’m named after the [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_u]Juli[/name_u]@na of the Netherlands because my grandfather was a Dutch immigrant and asked my parents to.
