I prefer the pn Mad-uh-line, so [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] works best for me
I think it depends on which pronunciation you like better. If you like Mad-del-lyn then I would go with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], but if you like the [name_u]French[/name_u] Mad-del-line, I would go with [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. I like the [name_u]French[/name_u] pronunciation more. I just like the way [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] sounds more and it’s less common.
Madeline/leine/lyn in my life is anarchy so the only people I’ve met named [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] pronounced it -lyn and the only girl I’ve met named [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] pronounced it -line so I never know how to spell it. I prefer the -line pronunciation though so whichever of these does that for you, gets my vote.
It depends what pronunciation you want. To me, [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is mad-eh-lenne, with a stress on the last syllable, while [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is mad-eh-line (rhyming with lime)!
I prefer the look and sound of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] though! If I wasn’t worried it would be butchered where I live, I’d have it on my own list (instead I have [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] (mad-eh-lyn))
thank you all for your input. I intentionally didn’t say which pronunciation because that’s variable that matters the least, since everybody will go with their desired pronunciation or be corrected anyways. Confusion will always be a thing.
