We’re down to two first names and two middles for our little guy. Big brother is named Brooks. We aren’t concerned about the popularity of Noah and would likely use the nn “Cal” for Callum.
I like [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] best. Sounds stately without being pretentious (to be clear, I actually like pretentious names )
Hmm… I like [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_u]Callum[/name_u] or [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Noah[/name_u] a lot, but out of those, [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]!
[name_u]Callum[/name_u] is so incredibly handsome! I absolutely love it. Both [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] are great, I slightly prefer the flow of [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], but both are great! [name_u]Cal[/name_u] and [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] go together perfectly! I can imagine a [name_u]Callum[/name_u] nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u] suiting tons of different personalities and interests, while still sounding distinctive!
I much prefer [name_u]Callum[/name_u] ‘Cal’ over [name_u]Noah[/name_u], and think [name_u]Callum[/name_u] works much better for Brooks’ brother. I choose [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] over [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] as [name_u]James[/name_u] is such a default middle name. I do love [name_u]James[/name_u] though and think it works fine with [name_u]Callum[/name_u].
Appreciate your feedback! I’ve been trying to describe my naming style preferences for a long time and you finally put words to it with “stately but not pretentious.”
Thank you for the feedback! Agree with you on the wide range of personalities with [name_u]Callum[/name_u], whereas I have a more concrete association with [name_u]Noah[/name_u] despite there being many more of them in the US
Thanks! I worry about [name_u]Noa[/name_u] feeling more unisex/feminine as I’m seeing it on forums as an option for girls lately. Appreciate the suggestion though!
I have said this before but I think people over think the sibset thing. I mean it’s one thing to say if you’ve got [name_u]John[/name_u], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] then naming your 4th kid [name_m]Xerxes[/name_m] or [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] is a bit odd stylistically, but between [name_u]Callum[/name_u] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] I think there’s no real difference and you should just go with your preference!
This one was a little tough, so I wanted to explain my vote a bit. (Also, I’m a super nit-picky namer so feel free to ignore my overanalysis.)
I think the flow between first name and middle name is the best with the [name_u]Noah[/name_u] combos - [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] are both without issues in that department. But I think as far as the sibset is concerned, [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] and [name_u]Callum[/name_u] “Cal” sound fantastic together, while [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u] don’t have the same zing.
I really love [name_u]Callum[/name_u] for you, but I don’t think it flows as well with the middles. [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] in particular is a little more difficult to say aloud with the close together M sounds. For that reason, I went with [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u]. Personally, the alliteration would bother me, but if you have no issues with that, I say go for it.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite idea is one of the previous suggestions of [name_u]Callum[/name_u] [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. I think it has great flow! But if [name_u]Charles[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u] are honor names, it makes sense that you would want to stick with one of those.
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! I welcome the analysis It seems like [name_u]Callum[/name_u] is the clear standout for a first. [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_u]Charles[/name_u] are honor names, as is [name_u]John[/name_u]. [name_u]John[/name_u] felt a little devoid of personality to me originally, but my husband likes it. Curious whether you think that has a better flow?
Our last name is 3 syllables, which is why I’m feeling the 2-1 first/middle cadence if that makes any sense.
