Which boy name sounds best to you from this lot?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

Which of these names sound best for a boy in your humble opinion…?
We have narrowed our options to about 3.

The middle name is going to be a simple [name_m]John[/name_m] btw although I think this has little bearing on which 1st name we choose.

[name_m]Caden[/name_m] ~ ( pronounced [name_m]Cayden[/name_m] or [name_u]Kayden[/name_u]~ Alternatively we could choose the spelling of [name_m]Cayden[/name_m]/[name_u]Kayden[/name_u]). Which would work best?

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] ~ ( pronounced A- ron~
Thinking of just going with [name_m]Aron[/name_m] actually but this seems a bit weird these days. It would help with the potential mix ups in pronunciation I think).

People may be confused to pronounce Aa ron.
This is the name we are favouring atm by the way.
Is the Aa ron going to be confusing with different pronunciations of it??

[name_m]Kylan[/name_m]~ ( pronounced [name_m]Ky[/name_m] lan). Seems like a cool name too.

Better add~ [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]Cian[/name_m] too but we think these are too common atm.

This is going to be our 1st child and we are very excited.

Thoughts…
Thank You

[name_m]Caden[/name_m] is my pick. It is crossing over though, so be prepared for a unisex name if you are okay with that. I think the simplest spelling is the best, especially for a boy. I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the strong handsome nickname of [name_u]Cade[/name_u].

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]/[name_m]Aron[/name_m] is going to have trouble with spelling and pronunciation all his life. Are you willing to do this? I gave my child an unusual name with spelling/prn issues, but it also doesn’t have anything it’s so easily confused with, like [name_m]Aaron[/name_m].

[name_m]Kylan[/name_m] is so totally not my style that it is hard to rate it. It does fit with a lot of current trends, and while he will probably have some spelling issues with it, it is unusual enough that many people will double check the spelling. And, while it is unusual, it isn’t weird – which is what you should be going for if you want to be a little bit different.

I agree with you about [name_m]Liam[/name_m]. Nice name, but way way too popular right now. And [name_m]Cian[/name_m] has never done anything for me. I just dislike it a lot.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] is my favourite from your list. [name_m]Caden[/name_m] strikes me as a little too trendy (with all the Aidens and Braydens and Jaydens born each year. It’s possible that if you combine all the -ayden names into one name, it would be more popular than [name_m]Liam[/name_m], for example). [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] sounds kind of made-up to me (correct me if it isn’t!)
[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] seems like the strongest name on your list. I have a cousin named [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], and he hasn’t encountered problems with the spelling and pronunciation of his name.

Hmm…I guess [name_m]Caden[/name_m] gets my vote, as well. It’s not my favorite name, but I think it holds the most promise from all those on your list. I would stick with the simple spelling, as there are already so many crazy spellings of the many -aiden names. [name_m]Caden[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] sounds very nice and I really like that [name_m]John[/name_m] in the middle gives the whole name a bit more “umph” and backbone.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m]/[name_m]Aron[/name_m]: I love [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] with its actual pronunciation. It wouldn’t make much sense to leave the spelling the same and to change the pronunciation. A-ron is awkward to say, but if you want to go this route, I would just spell it [name_m]Aron[/name_m]. Otherwise, of course he is going to get the pronunciation of the name [name_m]Aaron[/name_m].

[name_m]Kylan[/name_m]: I really don’t like it. I’m sorry. It seems like some sort of cross between [name_u]Kyle[/name_u] and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], both decent names in themselves. I know many people see names like [name_u]Raylan[/name_u], [name_u]Rylan[/name_u], [name_m]Kyler[/name_m], and [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] and think they sound really ‘cool’, but I just can’t see it that way.

[name_m]Liam[/name_m]: This is actually the name I like the most from your list…it’s the most grounded. I really like it as a nickname for [name_m]William[/name_m], which is such a handsome name.

[name_m]Cian[/name_m]: Not really a fan. There could be pronunciation issues here, too.

I vote [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]. I think most people are familiar with the two A’s spelling, so I’d leave it like that. I think it’s a familiar enough name that you won’t run into nearly as much trouble with pronunciation as you seem to think! I grew up with a classmate named [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and I don’t remember any of our substitute teachers getting it wrong (hilarious Key and [name_m]Peele[/name_m] sketch notwithstanding.)

Thanks for the replies…

The name we are liking best right now is [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] actually (pronounced [name_m]Ky[/name_m](ki te) LAN).
It seems this isn’t that popular on here though :frowning:

I better add- I am Irish and my wife is Korean.
The name [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] works well in Korean as well as English (so do the others above too it must be said, 2 short syllables works best).
[name_m]Kylan[/name_m] has an Irish origin too although it is pronounced like Keelan I think.

[name_m]Kylan[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]… or [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] seems to have a nice ring to it.
Is it a bit too out there (strange) though or sounding made up??

My #1 from this list is definitely [name_m]Cian[/name_m]. Is it popular right now? [name_m]Liam[/name_m] is of course (though I adore this name too), but I wasn’t aware of [name_m]Cian[/name_m] being especially on trend. Maybe just not in the states. In the states, I think [name_m]Caden[/name_m] is much more popular than [name_m]Cian[/name_m]. [name_m]Caden[/name_m] is nice, definitely better without the y… But there are so many [name_u]Aiden[/name_u]'s and [name_u]Jayden[/name_u]'s that it might not stand out as much.

[name_m]Aaron[/name_m] is nice but a bit dated for me right now. So… Again, my vote goes to [name_m]Cian[/name_m]! :100::100:

Sorry, just seen your post above that [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] is your #1. I don’t mind it, but I do prefer [name_m]Kaiden[/name_m]/Kydan which is kind of a cross between [name_m]Caden[/name_m] and [name_m]Kylen[/name_m], and also gives you the nickname [name_u]Kai[/name_u]/[name_m]Ky[/name_m].

I do like [name_m]Kylan[/name_m] [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. Go with what feels right and works well for ou family! Good luck!
