I have been a baby name fanatic since all my girlfriends living in NYC started getting pregnant. My husband at the time worked for a publisher who publish “The [name]Baby[/name] Name Bible”. This book is from the creators of nameberry.com. [name]One[/name] night he came home and said, I think you should buy this book for your friends. [name]One[/name] look and I was hooked. With each pregnancy announcement I bought a copy for the friend. Learning there was a website from the writers was icing on the cake.
Cut to just over 3 years later- I am now pregnant with my first and finally bought myself a copy of The [name]Baby[/name] Name Bible! Yay! All of my friends have had or are currently pregnant with round 2 babies, and as I started reading the names again, I noticed something interesting.
My friends children are named: [name]Arden[/name], [name]Honor[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Lila[/name], [name]Callum[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]West[/name]
All the moms were given the baby name bible and all the names are names that the writers have highlighted in grey with stars to denote Best [name]Bets[/name].
Coincidence? or subconscious influence? I too find myself drawn to those names in grey while overlooking the rest of the page.
Are the authors of the site/book just so good at what they do that 5 years later are still predicting the best baby names or are they influencing the names?
Either way I’ll be using nameberry and the book to help me survive the baby naming process, and if my husband and I can ever agree my baby will have a great name!
