Honestly, they all (except truth, truth does not sound like a name to me) scream boy/man to me. Maybe [name_u]Finch[/name_u], although I personally would assume 100% boy/man if I heard or saw the name.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you adore [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] enough to use it as the first name? [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is so versatile, so many nickname choices. Several of your choices, especially the honoring names, would make a nice combo. I especially like the sound of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Birch[/name_m], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Finch[/name_u], and [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Heath[/name_m].
To be honest, none of these names are in any way attractive to me. They sound heavy and clunky when paired with [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. I can’t think of many girls who would want to be called [name_m]Garth[/name_m] or [name_m]Birch[/name_m]. [name_u]March[/name_u] at least is the only semi-feminine name, given its ties to [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women.
I agree with this, except for [name_u]Truth[/name_u], definitely see it on a girl!
[name_u]Truth[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is a beautiful name.
@boyandgirl & @roseofjune - thanks for your feedback. I’m glad you like [name_u]March[/name_u], that was one of my favourites too. I didn’t even think of the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women connection but, you’re right, that does make it feel a little more feminine when I think of it.
@mccharlie - I can understand why people wouldn’t consider [name_u]Truth[/name_u] as a name, but it feels like a hybrid between [name_f]Faith[/name_f] and [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] to me, so I think it’s 100% wearable.
If anyone has any middle name suggestions other than [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], I would love to hear some (excl. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]).
I voted [name_u]Finch[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. Though I understand how [name_u]Finch[/name_u] can be seen as a boys’ name, I think it would suit a girl much better – and I love bird names! [name_u]Truth[/name_u] is wearable, but I don’t like it as much. [name_u]March[/name_u] reminds me of the verb and seems like a command. As for middles, have you considered:
I love the name [name_m]Heath[/name_m] on a girl! I’ve recommended it numerous times and I have it on my longlist as part of this combo: [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m] [name_m]Heath[/name_m]. I want someone to use the name [name_m]Heath[/name_m] for a girl so badly! So, I voted for it.
That said, I think [name_m]Birch[/name_m] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is very striking and beautiful. It has a serene feel, but also feels a bit sophisticated like [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_u]Blair[/name_u], [name_u]Blake[/name_u], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], etc. [name_f]Briar[/name_f] could fit into this category, too.
[name_u]March[/name_u] is the most wearable. Although I love the name so much, I actually didn’t vote for it because it feels too safe compared to the others!
Names I like best in combination with [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], and without trying to push [name_m]Heath[/name_m] on you, are:
[name_m]Birch[/name_m] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]March[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_m]Heath[/name_m] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
I like [name_u]Finch[/name_u] and [name_u]March[/name_u] the best, mostly because of the literary connotations, but as its been said - I think [name_u]March[/name_u] is more feminine.
Although this doesn’t fit in with the “-ch” ending, along the TKAM theme, I think [name_u]Scout[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] would be lovely and much more wearable for a girl, whilst still having the same masculine themes of the other names. It still has the same sort of sound and feel too.
I really adore the name [name_m]Heath[/name_m] but it’s all boy to me. Of your list I like [name_u]Finch[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_m]Fox[/name_m] are used as names so why not? Plus it makes me think of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ and nn [name_m]Fin[/name_m] is very cute.
Would you consider:
[name_f]Tanith[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]/[name_f]Edyth[/name_f] (nn.[name_f]Edie[/name_f]/[name_f]Edy[/name_f])
[name_f]Ferelith[/name_f]
[name_f]Delyth[/name_f] (means 'pretty & blessed)
Zenith
[name_u]Leith[/name_u]
I like the sound of [name_u]March[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] the best, but I also think [name_u]Truth[/name_u] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] looks pretty on paper.
Truthie could be cute like [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]?
Thanks for your feedback @chrisco. I understand your comment about [name_u]March[/name_u], it’s something that has put me off other verb names like [name_u]Chase[/name_u] in the past and it hadn’t really occurred to me about [name_u]March[/name_u] until you mentioned it. I’m pleased you like [name_u]Finch[/name_u], I like bird names too - especially [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_u]Valentine[/name_u], [name_f]Endellion[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] from your middle name suggestions (also [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], but I can’t use it as my niece has the middle name [name_f]Anne[/name_f] already).
Apologies! Didn’t mean to imply you said it wasn’t a name, I was just agreeing with you that it felt usable!
Thanks, I’m glad you like [name_m]Perth[/name_m] - it was a last minute addition to the list. My only concern is that we’re from [name_m]New[/name_m] Zealand and have many family and friends in Australia, so ultimately it would sound like a place name. I like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], but they too are Australian cities so, unfortunately, [name_m]Perth[/name_m] might be a no-go anyway.
