i have my top girl first names picked. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is the girl name I adore out of all my [name_f]Ada[/name_f] options. But I need help with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
Name options are all family names. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is from my side and so the middle would be from his side.
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] - his mothers middle name that has a long history of being passed down on her side
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - maternal grandmothers first name
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Ardis[/name_f] - grandmothers middle
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u]- grandmother name
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] - this was paired with [name_f]Belle[/name_f] on his side
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] - another great grandmothers name
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - great grandmothers name
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] is his only first cousin on his fathers side
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f] - [name_f]Adele[/name_f] is a sister name to [name_f]Ada[/name_f] so this one could work very well should we choose [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
Simply put I prefer [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] to [name_u]Marian[/name_u]. Would [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] be a good choice to honor [name_u]Marian[/name_u]?
thank you for all your help. The top girl names are now:
Ada Emmeline
Lucy Pearl
These names will go on my list as one and two. I am going to find two more names I love and that will round out the name for girls. All of this has been fun but exhausting. I do love names and so will continue to look at names.
If any body has any more suggestions for names please put them here.
For flow - [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is the only one that really flows. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is beautiful [and honouring!] though so this would be my choice.
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is stunning! [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] could always be used if you can’t bear to leave [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] out [although I’m not a fan of double mns]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is pretty but in that case I’d do [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] but I have a double barreled surname so no.
I love that they are all meaningful to you. I like the sound and flow of all of them except I feel that there is something off with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] ([name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] flows well). My personal favorites would be [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u], and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u] (still would honor [name_f]Clara[/name_f]).
I think that [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] sounds best.
People have varying opinions on whether “similar” names are OK as honor names. My husband and I have come to an agreement by allowing the person whose “side” is being represented to give the final say as to whether a substitute honor name is a good choice or not. As such, I’ve approved my mom’s favorite flower (as a nn), but he only approved his dad’s EXACT name (as a middle). It works for us; might work for you too.
Thank you all for your responses. I really appreciated your suggestions and insights.
My list now includes: [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f], and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
Oh, that’s such a hard decision! There is so much history that I would hate to break anyone’s heart.
I prefer [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f].
Have you tried breaking down some of the names and combing them? [name_m]Even[/name_m] then you could still hyphenate a few and cover 4/ 5 people in 2/3 names.
Like [name_f]Maribelle[/name_f] would cover [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_u]Marian[/name_u].
My grandaughter is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. Her mother is [name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Sometimes [name_f]Addie[/name_f] is used for [name_f]Ada[/name_f].
