We have narrowed down our list of boys names to 2 names. We wanted two names in case we end up with two boys instead of the expected boy/girl twins.
The problem is, I like one name best and my husband likes the other.
Which do you like?
My favorite:
[name]Jasper[/name]
Husbands favorite:
[name]Bennett[/name]
I pushed hard for [name]Constantine[/name] but my husband absolutely vetoed it. It will definately be a middle name for whichever name gets first billing.
Personally I prefer [name]Jasper[/name] to [name]Bennett[/name]. [name]Bennett[/name] is just a trendy surname to me so I don’t like it paired with [name]Jasper[/name]? Would your DH go for [name]Jasper[/name] & [name]Benedict[/name] or [name]Jasper[/name] & [name]Dominic[/name]? Good luck in your name quest!
I love [name]Bennett[/name] and I don’t like [name]Jasper[/name] at all, especially with mn [name]Constantine[/name] (sorry) but I can’t decide if the [name]Lydia[/name] & [name]Bennett[/name] connection to Pride and Prejudice is cute or too matchy.
To my ears: [name]Jasper[/name] sounds much better with [name]Constantine[/name] and is a good sibling name to Annabeth and [name]Lydia[/name] and OK with [name]Maxwell[/name]. [name]Bennett[/name] is OK with [name]Constantine[/name] and is a good sibling name to [name]Maxwell[/name] and an OK sibling name to the girls. So [name]Jasper[/name] gets more points, but both work in their different ways (might matter more for the boys to pair well in some ways). I really like the suggestion of [name]Benedict[/name] to sound better with [name]Constantine[/name], although I can see how it might not work for all tastes. [name]Benjamin[/name] to me is a real halfway point between [name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name], is solid with [name]Constantine[/name], and a great sibling pairing to [name]Maxwell[/name] and Annabeth and [name]Lydia[/name], although I’m guessing that if you liked it we’d be discussing it here : D. Still, thought I’d mention it just in case.
I should say that the name would be either:
[name]Jasper[/name] [name]Henry[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] or [name]Bennett[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] [name]Constantine[/name]
The reason I am voting for [name]Jasper[/name] is because I know quite a few little [name]Ben[/name]'s out in the world and even though most of them are Benjamins it won’t stop [name]Bennett[/name] from getting stuck in with them.
I am not really a fan of [name]Benedict[/name] because it sounds a little harsh to my ears.
We are taking all your comments into consideration, thank you so much.
To follow the (gorgeous, may I add) pattern of [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Tiberius[/name] [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] [name]Bennett[/name] seems like the obvious choice to me and follows a similar equation. But [name]Bennett[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] would work as well. I love [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name] and Annabeth (and perhaps [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name] ; )) together so much!
Here is the name math: [name]Jasper[/name] + [name]Maxwell[/name]= vintage [name]Constantine[/name] + [name]Tiberius[/name]= exotic, part of your husband’s heritage and his name; [name]Elliot[/name] + [name]Bennett[/name] = names that can do dbl duty as both fn and surnames, also classic,a nod to your English heritage that I have heard you mention, and also both have literary connections
