If you’re pronouncing [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (mad-eh-len) then I prefer [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f].
Yes, that is how we pronounce it.
Although I very much like all three names, I feel like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] would inevitably be shortened (even if not by you!) to [name_f]Addie[/name_f] and [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], and those nicknames are so popular right now they drive me up a wall. Also, the repeating long “I” sound in [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] bugs me slightly, although I still think it’s pretty.
So, I voted for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. As I said, though, I like all the names, so my comments are just me being nitpicky. No rudeness meant.
Thank you, all, for the votes so far. We are having a hard time with these three, love them all equally and have been round and round.
I asked my parents their thoughts on these three and they barely heard [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] they got talking about [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] so quickly. My dad had to start singing Sweet [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. My mom talked about a play she did in high school and she played a woman named [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] (she had to tell us some of her lines). They went on and on about stories and people they knew with the name (one being an influential teacher in my dad’s life). This has made us fall more in love with [name_f]Adeline[/name_f].
