I do like [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], but [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is just so lovely I had to vote for it. I think it makes a wonderful middle name.
I think [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], in English, has that classic European vibe to it, which I really love. I’ve always though of [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] as a little much, it’s a one-person name to me, and the connection isn’t that positive.
[name_u]Antoine[/name_u] is [name_m]French[/name_m] male name, so I wouldn’t use that one and I’m not too fond of the look of [name_f]Antinea[/name_f] (it reminds me of some illness or medicine for some reason; look-wise that is).
@squidly - [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is lovely, isn’t it? Thank-you for voting!
@opheliaflora - [name_m]Ah[/name_m], yes - [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]. You’ve brought up all that attracts me to it. And [name_f]Antinea[/name_f]! I want to love [name_f]Antinea[/name_f], but there’s something stopping me. It could very well be the looks. Thank-you for the helpful reply!
I like them all but [name_u]Antoine[/name_u], but I agree [name_f]Antinea[/name_f] sounds better than it looks. I think for me it’s the ‘Anti-’. My vote went to [name_f]Antonia[/name_f].
@emsky - Yes, I think you’ve pinpointed it. The anti- is rather unsettling. And another vote for [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]! Thanks for replying : )
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] has the gorgeous literary connection. Definitely the winner.
@nativoyoung - I had forgotten about that, too! Thanks for the reminder, and for voting.
Thanks for all the votes and helpful replies, everyone! I appreciate it. I’m closing the thread now, with [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] the winner!
