As a [name_f]Sara[/name_f]/[name_f]Sally[/name_f] I have to weigh in on this thread! I would pick [name_f]Sally[/name_f]. I really do love [name_f]Sara[/name_f], BUT whenever I’ve used it in the past (in work place situations) I’ve been struck just by the sheer poplarity of [name_f]Sara[/name_f]/h. All of a sudden I would go from having a unique but recognizable name not in the top 1000 (which is kind of baby name gold, am I right?) to than going by a name that was top 10 the year I was born. I somehow have always been the only [name_f]Sally[/name_f] in any social circle I’ve ever been in - which is pretty amazing -whereas at any given time I’ve known about 5 girls named [name_f]Sara[/name_f]/h. Plus [name_f]Sally[/name_f] is easy to remember, say, spell and is an all-around pretty name. (I think!)

Also: since [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is very “in” at the moment, some parents might be looking for something like it but fresher, which would logically lead to - yes - [name_f]Sally[/name_f].

And what a story about your great aunt! You have to wonder who that cabin boy was. I can see why you would want to honor her.

It’s something everyone in my family has always wondered! My grandfather (the [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] Stap who contributed to the story on the site) never found out, and now that he’s passed away, my mum, cousin and I are trying even harder to figure it out!

I would use [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] to honour her, but in the middle spot if you are not passionate about it as a first. Or [name_f]Sissy[/name_f]? For what it is worth I think [name_f]Cissy[/name_f] is great!

I like [name_f]Sissy[/name_f]/[name_f]Cissy[/name_f] but I’m not sure about it as a first name

[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is an insanely popular name where I am from, maybe less so with kids under the age of five and adults over 40, but still, very popular. I had no idea that [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sally[/name_f] were nicknames for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], as I have never met a [name_f]Sally[/name_f] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] whose real name is [name_f]Sarah[/name_f].

My older sister is a [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] (28 yrs old). I’ve talked with people about who knew my sister [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] only to realize 15 minutes into conversation that they’re talking about a different [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]… And I swear I’ve been the victim of the pick-up line “Hey, you’re [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]'s sister, right?” 'cause the chances are that good. haha

[name_m]Even[/name_m] with the popularity (having had to deal with [name_f]Sara[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] and being [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] W. and having multiple friends growing up with the same name), she loves her name and got a lot of mileage with the meaning when we were little.

I’m not particularly fond of the diminutives. I voted for [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], after all you can always call her [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] or [name_f]Sally[/name_f]. If I were to honor my sister I think I’d go for:

[name_f]Sera[/name_f]/Saraphina or [name_f]Sera[/name_f]/Saraphine w/ nn [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]

Perhaps even a more daring [name_f]Sahara[/name_f] or [name_u]Sierra[/name_u]. There is also the name “[name_f]Sari[/name_f]” which means “my princess”, also hebrew. Sadly sounds like you’re saying Sorry.

I love all of them! Right now, I’m really loving [name_f]Sally[/name_f]! I know a little adorable [name_f]Sally[/name_f]. Plus, my little girl often reminds me of [name_u]Baby[/name_u] [name_f]Sally[/name_f] in the [name_m]Dick[/name_m] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] books. So precious!
