Which name do you feel is a softer sounding name for a little girl?
[name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]?
Also thoughts on the name [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] as a nn for [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f]? Nice, old done years ago ???
Thanks!

Definitely [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] for me
I actually think [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] is softer sounding. I much prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but the z makes it less soft imo.
Agree with @may.rose, [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] â[name_f]Kayla[/name_f]â sounds softer I guess but I much prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] seems much softer to me! I think itâs [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f]'s K sound that breaks the softness.
[name_f]Kayla[/name_f] is okay, I prefer other nickname for [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f]. [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_u]Mickie[/name_u], Mik, etc.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is very soft and sweet! I like the idea of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] because the added âsâ makes it feels even lighter.
Iâm not a huge fan of [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f]. [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] (and other spellings of it) is just too popular and overused in my opinion. If youâre going to use it, [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] is a nice nickname. I prefer [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] though.
(and [name_f]Layla[/name_f] is a great suggestion!!)
Though both are spunky, Iâd say [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is softer and sunnier, while [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] isâŚsportier, I guess? Iâm having trouble coming up with the right word.
I prefer [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] as a standalone name, and like @tallemaja I would instead be drawn to [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Mila[/name_f], [name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_u]Mickie[/name_u]âŚthose sound more modern to me. [name_f]May[/name_f] is another possible nn.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] feels softer to me, the hard K in [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] makes it feel like a harsher name all around. I might just be biased towards [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] though, I think itâs really a beautiful name
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is my favorite! Itâs a beautiful, elegant and timeless name.
I personally find [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] a little dated, but [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] would be a good nickname for her. I also like [name_u]Kay[/name_u] and [name_u]Mika[/name_u]
I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] sounds softer. I love it.
If youâre set on [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] though, [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] would definitely work as a nn.
Thanks for the reply! I never knew these other nn for the name [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f]
Thanks for the reply! I never knew these other nn for the name mikayla
I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is softer. Iâve only heard [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] on itâs own but it could be!
They are both nice names, but I would describe them as more spunky than soft. I prefer the traditional [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] spelling.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]!
[name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] nn [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] is pretty, but both seem a little dated.
Ooh, this is an interesting question! To me, [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] sounds softerâthe âzâ in [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] makes it a little zippier to meâbut [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] has a softer âvibe.â
Overall, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is definitely my favorite of the two. It feels classic yet modern, feminine without being frilly or elaborate, and energetic but not at all cutesy.
[name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] is a nice name too, but it doesnât feel quite as timelessly pretty to me. I do think [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] could work as a nickname, and I also like @jonquilâs suggestion of [name_f]Layla[/name_f], and @tallemajaâs suggestions of [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
If youâre interested in a variant of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]âthought I donât think itâs at all harsh soundingâmaybe [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisa[/name_f] would appeal?
I second [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. It is one of my favorite names. I think it is the long âIâ sound in [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] that makes it sound less âsoftâ and more âzippy.â
Thanks so much for your reply. Weâve been really split in which we like better and feels better with our other kids names and youâve really described how weâve been feeling
I personally think that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is much softer and that [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] is actually quite a harah name. [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] would work as a nn but I think itâs such a name in itself that people might actually not realise what her real name is
If soft is more what youâre going toward, I would consider [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisa[/name_f].
