Which is best for #6?

Which of these would you pick if #6 is a boy? Big sibs are [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Will[/name_m], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_m]Zach[/name_m], and [name_m]George[/name_m]. For our boys we have a thing going where they’ve all had (U.S.) presidential first names, but I might be willing to break the pattern for [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Not sure, though.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] “Ted”
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] “[name_u]Cal[/name_u]”
[name_m]Franklin[/name_m] “[name_m]Frank[/name_m]” or [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]

(And the ones my husband has vetoed are [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], and a few others I can’t remember right now.)

I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] or [name_u]Cal[/name_u] with your kids

I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] best with your kids.

([name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Truman[/name_m] and [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] were both president, so [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (and derivatives) count as presidential names)

I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] “[name_u]Theo[/name_u]”, “Ted”, “[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]”.

As a name I like [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] best. For you I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] best. Would you consider the following -

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Martin[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
[name_m]Millard[/name_m] (too out there? Better for a girl nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f]?)
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m]
[name_m]Chester[/name_m]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Rutherford[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Warren[/name_m]
[name_m]Lyndon[/name_m]
[name_m]Harry[/name_m]

I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], plus there’s [name_m]Henry[/name_m] “[name_m]Harry[/name_m]” [name_m]Truman[/name_m] if you want to keep the trend going. I think it fits the best with your other children, too.

I wish he had been a [name_m]Henry[/name_m]! But he’s actually just [name_m]Harry[/name_m] s [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. The “S” isn’t even a real middle initial—doesn’t stand for anything.

[name_m]History[/name_m] buffs, please correct me if I am wrong!

[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] might count enough for me…

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] —[name_u]Georgie[/name_u]’s middle name; would actually use if we had b/g twins
[name_m]Martin[/name_m] —-my husband kind of makes fun of its rhyming with “fart”
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]—love it! We have one!
[name_m]Millard[/name_m] (too out there? Better for a girl nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f]?)—nope. Like [name_f]Millie[/name_f] for a girl, though
[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] —too many little Lincolns running around right now
[name_m]Chester[/name_m]—-“the molester”
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]—-like it but it’s a presidential last name, not a first name
[name_m]Rutherford[/name_m]—too stodgy, but maaaybe could work w/ [name_m]Ford[/name_m] as a nickname? Hmm.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]—-like it, but DH does not
[name_m]Warren[/name_m]—we already have a W first name with [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Lyndon[/name_m]—-don’t really like
[name_m]Harry[/name_m][/QUOTE]—DH refuses since it’s like “Hairy”

Thanks! It’s gonna be a tough choice!

Honestly? Me too, at the moment. [name_m]Joe[/name_m] might take some convincing, though. He is SUPER picky and ends up effectively choosing the name by pure filibuster/attrition.

Me too! There are so many good nicknames for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Our good friends (who live in Michigan) used this for their son who is [name_m]Zach[/name_m]’s age, and they call him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. But we don’t get to see them very often so it might be fine.

I do like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] best with your kids names however [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (I’d be more inclined to use “[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]” when he’s young) also works greats and continues your presidential pattern :).

We’ll have to see what I can talk my husband into. We seem to make a lot of boys, so I won’t be shocked if this is another one!

[name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Will[/name_m], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_m]Zach[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m] and…[name_u]Cal[/name_u]!

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] goes so well with your kids’ names, and Ted is a nice strong yet sweet nickname.

I also love [name_u]Cal[/name_u], and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] is a nice offbeat way to get there. It does feel a bit quirkier/less timeless-traditional than your other boys’ names though.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] is a lovely, solid, safe classic and goes very well too. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m].

Thanks, name_sage! [name_m]Just[/name_m] might be the one!

[name_m]Ah[/name_m], [name_m]Hal[/name_m]! Me too! DH just vetoed it but I could work on him…

There seem to be a lot of little Theos running around so maybe Ted would distinguish him a bit if he were a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? I have a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]/Ted on my family tree, too.

If you want to keep with the theme, I’d say [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] “[name_m]Frank[/name_m]”. It fits so nicely into your sibset.

But I don’t think you have to anchor yourself to that.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] is an excellent name that sounds great with the other names, and if you really love it you should use it!

[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] nn [name_u]Cal[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] would be my favorites with your sibset. Congrats on number 6 btw!

I like [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] for you. [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]William[/name_m], and [name_m]George[/name_m] are true classics, while [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] feel more like modern classics. I think [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] fits more into the modern classic category, so it balances the family group nicely.
