I am personally not too fond of hyphenated names (or smooshed names). I have [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and [name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] on my list. They would be called [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Indie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. In your case I would go with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] “[name_u]Beau[/name_u]” or [name_u]Beau[/name_u] as a stand alone.

As in [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] ([name_u]Beau[/name_u] in the middle spot)? would it be ok to call a child both?

Sure, it’s okay to call a child both. I personally would not in this case. [name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] just seems off to my ears. He is not my child though and if you want to call him both I would leave out the hyphen and call him both. The important people in his life will learn his name quickly.

I think they’re both great names when used separately, but I don’t think they mesh well together in any combination. I think you could use [name_u]Beau[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] though.

Both [name_u]Beau[/name_u] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] are nice names, but I would use one or the other, or [name_u]Beau[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]. They don’t sound all that good together and I’m not a fan of hyphenated names in general other than traditional ones like [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f]. Also, [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] reminds me of the children’s character [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m].

I think [name_u]Beau[/name_u] could definitely be a nick name for [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]!

I completely agree

ok thanks for this. I am torn because I always loved [name_u]Beau[/name_u] but I feel with our multicultural family and moving around internationally a lot, it is not the best name to take outside english speaking countries. BUT I have always really liked [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] as well! so I suppose I just need to make a decision

Either could work as a standalone name. With [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Angelica[/name_f], I would use [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and the other in the middle: [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u]. (The hyphen spoils it, imo.)

I would go with [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and use [name_u]Beau[/name_u] as the nickname (and also the middle name if you want).

Personally really don’t like hyphenated names… I think [name_u]Beau[/name_u] makes a great first name, and then a middle that doesn’t start with B.

[name_u]Beau[/name_u]-[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] is just too much, in my opinion. I think you just need to pick one and put the other aside for another baby.

I think [name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] works as a first/middle or double first, but I would not hyphenate it. The hyphen strikes me as a little too fussy for such a laid back, otherwise approachable name. And I’d be prepared for one to be dropped in school/by friends…possibly even by other family.

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u].

I like [name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_u]Beau[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]

I don’t like [name_u]Beau[/name_u]-[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], but I think [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] is actually really cute! You can still use both names if you want, the hyphen is unnecessary.
