I voted for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] as I always envision the sky and sun’s . [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is certainly more popular than [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] though and typically I always vote for the less popular

I love how [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] looks written down and I want to share in the enthusiasm so many have for it, but when I say it it sounds awful! Either all hard “R”s, or I develop a sort of rhotacism—none of the prettiness I feel it should have!

I’m sure this says more about me than the name, but it pains me as I so want to love it! [name_m]Hence[/name_m] my vote for [name_f]Astoria[/name_f], which flows off the tongue with ease.

I love both, but [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] has been growing on me lately, both as a less-popular alternative to [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and to [name_u]Antonia[/name_u] (which I also love but can’t use). So I voted [name_f]Astoria[/name_f], but would happily use either her or [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] given the right opportunity :blush:

Ditto @ehrob1, BUT [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is also quite difficult to say in my accent so I was so torn I didn’t think even vote. :joy:

I agree with this–maybe not awful, but it definitely doesn’t come out right. It makes me sad because the idea of the name is so lovely to me!

I really like [name_f]Astoria[/name_f], I find it much easier to say, and I love the idea of [name_u]Story[/name_u] as a nn, so that one got my vote!

I love both these names. However - [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is getting very popular and I read its popularity is going to continue to rise. So if popularity is a concern for you, this may not be ideal. I also find [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] a bit of a mouthful to day with repeating r sounds. I think the nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is inevitable so if you don’t like that, something to also consider.

Astoria is gorgeous. I dont think it will be as popular as [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] unless it really catches on. I love the nn [name_u]Story[/name_u] although I dont like [name_u]Tory[/name_u]. I love that its a place name. Its also a bit of a mouthful to say so nicknames may be inevitable.

Both are really pretty- just things to consider!

I voted for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] because it looks prettier. But I think [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] sounds prettier.

I love the glowing [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] and I find it easier to say!
